There was a recent thread about vaping, which could result in a 10 year prison sentence.   In your opinion, should vaping be legal in Thailand?

Just for clarity on the health side of the issue, I'll repost this here:

There are lots of inaccuracies and misconceptions about e-cigarettes and vaping. This UK government blog looks at the most common myths and provides the facts. This represents the latest comprehensive independent e-cigarette review, is authored by leading academics in the tobacco control field and is based on up-to-date international data and peer-reviewed research. Their view is supported by a number of key bodies, including Cancer Research UK, Action on Smoking and Health, the Royal College of Physicians, the British Medical Association and recently, a major US science body, the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine.

The evidence is 100% clear - vaping saves lives.

Maybe, but Somchai at the Thai Ministry of Health says the opposite, so who does the Thai Government believe?

The answer is whoever comes up with the person/body/bodies that comes up with the theory that suits them. In this case it's Somchai.

But there's no financial benefit in saving lives so The Cig Monopoly is perpetuated.

7/11 shops in the Philippines are selling E-cigarettes in packages looking similar to any other cigarette package. Aren't ASEAN about uniformity within the region?

I don't smoke (haven't for 20 years) and I don't "cape", so I am not particularly bothered, although I can see no reason for banning it while cigarettes are permitted.

My main hope would be that the "protocols" regarding smoking in proximity to others in public places, (when they are observed) apply to camping as well.

Only for weed.

Sounds like the American president wants to mandate a much lower nicotine level in tobacco cigarettes. Guess he wants to drive people to vaping. Wonder why.

Sure make it legal. But it place the same pictures showing effects of smoking as with cigarettes.

It is true vaping doesn’t have the tar of tobacco but it does have addictive nicotine.

It is my experience that making a substance illegal creates a desire to get it underground, which increases prices creating huge criminal organizations and causes more interest in young people by glamorizing it.

The main purposes of ASEAN are to prevent wars and facilitate trade, uniformity of available merchandise, as far as I know, has never been on the cards for this or any other trade union.

Keep it banned. Being around people who 'vape' is disgusting. They disperse huge  clouds of (sometimes flavored) vapor with no regard to those around them. Who knows what this vapor is - it's been ingested into their lungs and then released into the air. Are they spreading germs and infections ? Do we know - because they don't care .

How do you as a non vaper/smoker find yourself constantly around these people?  Are the clouds huge then?  All of us breathe out large amounts of air that might contain germs.  The content of vape juice is known and is harmless.

The wikipedia article, whilst quite old, does raise some concerns. Nobody is saying vaping is 100% safe, the point is that it has been proven to be a far safer nicotine delivery system than smoking.

Note the bottom line of the wikipedia article: "There is a need to publicise the current best estimate that using EC is around 95% safer than smoking".

I tend to stop trusting information when the word wikipedia is used.
