Never really understood daylight saving time. Maybe when the majority worked on the farm, perhaps it made sense.

There is an increasing movement in the US to get rid of it. Arizona has the same time all year round and doesn't seem any the worse for it.

On an off topic, but curious time zone point of fact. China has a single time zone, meaning in Western China it's 4 hours difference from it's neighbor and time bears no relationship to the sun! They seem to survive

Exactly the opposite.

Nature does not care about clock hands or digits on a display.

The natural cycle is determined by the sun.

Now the birds start singing at 7 AM instead of 6 AM.

They don't care.

But as long as offices/schools/shops/work shifts have a fixed schedule by the clock hand it makes a difference.

Finish work at 5 PM and have one more hour of daylight e.g.

So depending on your personal situation you will like it or find it unnecessary.

As I am living in Thailand the topic is of quite marginal interest (see my live football comment).

I get up when the birds start singing (no joke).

Didn't it also mean farmers, labourers etc were not spending time in the darkness in the morning and kids weren't walking to school in the darkness?

Heard a few reasons for it.
