Sorry if this has been done already, i can't find anything recent here.

Have an elderly friend arriving Phuket on Friday middayish and has to get to Kata Noi. Is a taxi service easily available at the airport and do they have meters or just a set fare? Uber? do they do this job? A van is available i am told but heard horror stories of visits to sellers along the way. IS this van a good way to go IYO? Any info much appreciated to pass on to my old mate.

Just take one of the private taxis at the airport, meter or 'limousine'. Will be approximately the same price.

If your friend enjoys taking on the great uncertainties in life, he could try the new smart bus which would drop him in the general vicinity for a greatly reduced price.

No Uber here, only Grab but not sure their availabilty.

Very fair for a hassle free pick up service. Airport taxi service fare much the same plus the taxi driver trying to tout some great deals, a better hotel, blah blah ...
