Myanmar agrees to let in UN Security Council visit

 

 

Myanmar has finally agreed to allow delegates from the United Nations Security Council to visit the country, including conflict-torn Rakhine state after having rejected the UN requests for months, The Irrawaddy News Online reported on Friday (April 7).

 

Foreign affairs permanent secretary U Myint Thu told The Irrawaddy on Friday of the government’s agreement to allow the UN Security Council visit, but he said that details of where and when they would travel had yet to be worked out and Myanmar’s ambassador to the UN in New York had been assigned to take charge of the negotiations.

 

U Myint Thu said delegates from neighbouring countries, permanent member states of the Security Council and Singapore as the current ASEAN chair would join the trip.

Does this mean that the military has cleaned everything up and/or removed incriminating witnesses and evidence?

It means they would never accept UN envoy Yanghee Lee who has had an anti-Myanmar stance in all things for years. If a commission wants to visit with the specific aim of 'finding evidence of human rights abuses against Rohingya' without also looking at the many evil deeds that the Roros also are guilty of then I'm not surprised they didn't want her.

As far as I can ascertain, the villages that participated in the rebellion have mostly been destroyed, set on fire by orders of ARSA or by the Tatmadaw / surviving non-Muslim villagers. Villages that didn't participate are still there.

Wrong has doubtless been done on both sides but concentrating on on side of the story under pressure from the OIC and other organisations that want to get their hands on Myanmar's oil and gas reserves in the Rakhine is pure MSM BS.
