Does the seller need residency certificate or work permit?

Featured Replies

Hi, does the seller need proof of residency at Morchit Land Transportation office?

I'm the buyer and I have a work permit.  The seller only has the green book in his name and passport with visa valid for one more week.

Thanks.

Only you need one to register.
I have a WP and they still needed a C of R from me but that was a different office as you.

I know some offices also require the seller to have proof of address.

I needed a certificate of residency from Thai immigration when I sold my car in Korat.

Exchange money for the vehicle at the land office after they accept the paperwork...

same here

I transferred the reg of my CRF to a friend in Chiang Mai without a residence cert. You MUST have a valid visa though which is why I did it as I might not be able to return and he could then sell it for me.

Odd that in most countries it is an offence not to transfer the reg to a new owner but in Thailand a stupid rule makes it impossible and leaves the authorities without a clue who owns a vast number of ex epat bikes.
