PHUKET: The driver of a passenger van registered in Phang Nga is facing a charge of reckless driving causing death after the van he was driving collided with a motorbike on Wiset Rd in Rawai early this morning (April 28).

Police were called to the scene, near the entrance to Soi Suksan at Baan Bangkontee, at 7:20am.

The van, emblazoned with the transport trading name “Prasan Paedinphol”, was still in the middle of the road.

r.i.p. fellow rider, just one hour ago i witnessed a double deck bus race through a red light on second road Jomtien, just what is the matter with these idiots. my only recourse was to pull up next to him at the next set of lights ,(which he stopped at, wow) point and give him the finger

who had right of way, too many bikes just pull out in front of traffic when they should be giving way, thing is, no one wants to have to stop or slow down here, especially bike riders, they just do as they please as do van drivers and everyone else. Sad to see another death but until the police really do start enforcing the rules there will be a lot more,  far too much negligence on the roads here, attitudes need to change a lot

Van had right of way, on that road most likely traveling too fast.

Motorbike rider pulls out, either without looking or surprised by the speed of the van.

Most of the time it works out ok, this time not.

RIP.

what is the penalty in Thailand for  reckless driving causing death ?

500 B

All in all its just another corpse on the floor in the road rodeo RIP.

One of the worst roads in Phuket where vans and cars travel at high speed and without regard all of the time.

500 baht & a "wai"

Might be so long as the van driver compensates the deceased man's family enough that they won't press form criminal action.  And that won't be 500 baht. Add a few zeros to that.

I see this every day here, by bikes, cars, vans, trucks and buses and the wonder Is that more people have not been killed.

I watched a cement truck driver put his foot down when he was about 50m from a traffic light just about to turn red...…….and he shot through the red light at one hell of a speed.

Absolute idiots.
