Where is Revenue Office to get Tax ID in CM?

District 1 & 2 offices are on the opposite side of the bridge to the Holiday Inn and Rajavej Hospital - go over the bridge past the hotel  (on the left) and the hospital (on the right), turn left when you reach the far side of the bridge, travel less than 100 metres and the Revenue Offices are on the right-hand side, set back from the road and raised up above road level.

Perhaps one can get one at any Treasury office.  I live on the west side and got my Tax ID at the Treasury building in the large government complex on the southwest corner of Chotana Road and the 700 Year Road.

Thank you very much for your help.

Would you also know how I can find the opening times of these offices?

@CMBob

Were you able to get your tax ID right on the spot or did it take a while?

Here's the link to Revenue Office Chiang Mai, you're supposed to use the one that is relative to where you live.

Their hours are the same as most government offices, certainly open by 08:30 and closed by around 4:30 as I recall.

Getting the tax ID card is a fifteen minutes process, the Revenue staff are some of the most friendly and helpful of all government agency staff.

No problem.  That government complex out there is huge and the most difficult thing I did was to actually find the Treasury Building ( the signage was in Thai but I was lucky enough to be able to read that).  When entering the main door (somewhat in the center of the building), I asked somebody about a Tax ID number and they pointed to an office on that first floor about 10 yards to the right of the front door.  Upon entering that office, I advised as to what I needed and the guy sat me down, asked me some information (as for documents, I don't exactly recall but think all they wanted to see was my passport), he entered some info on his computer, and then printed out and handed me a Tax ID card and number.  The process was very easy, the people were very friendly, and the whole deal took maybe 5-10 minutes.

The reason I got the number was so I could file a tax return to retrieve back the 15% bank interest withheld from the account I use for my retirement extensions.  After I got the number, they told me to go up to the second floor to another office and a very gracious lady there sat me down and, within about 10 minutes, had filed a Thai tax return for me on her computer.  The check arrived by mail within a week.

And does it give your address on the Tax Id card?

My complete address in Thai is on the card.  The only other personal information on the card is your full name and your particular tax identification number (13 digits), both of which are in English.

I went to both offices, the one in the north said I have to be in the country a minimum of 6 months, the one in the east didn't care.

Both wanted blue book or rental agreement with copy of blue book and ID card of owner, and copy of my passport.

Also they wanted either work permit or bank passport that shows interest income.

Had similar experience 7 years ago at City Hall,amazed how efficient and user friendly it was . They advised I could file applications for tax return at the Amphur Office at Hang Dong which is much closer to where we live.Its a department of about 4 staff on your right as you enter the main door

Cheque has taken, in the last 2 years, about 30 days but if I had B Pay ,which I dont ,they said within a week. Along with the Thai Passport office they both get my vote for the 2 most efficient Gov departments.
