Watching the Young Pope with Jude Law. Very entertaining. I like Jude, he's a great actor.

Recently discovered British writer/director (and actress) Andrea Arnold.

Saw an early short she wrote and directed "Wasp" (2003) which won the Academy Award for Dramatic Short, and is excellent.

Her first feature "Red Road" (2006) is absorbing and has some excellent acting (as do all of her films) but the theme kept reminding me of the Dardenne brothers film "Le Fils" ("The Son"/ 2002) which is a masterpiece and outdoes her film.

Then saw her 2nd feature "Fish Tank" (2009), which is terrific:

All this came about because she has a new film "American Honey" which I read mixed comments about but she sounded like an interesting filmmaker and I decided to see what she'd done previously before I watched that (which I still haven't).

The TV series I watch:

Mr. Robot (afaik returns in 2017)

Better Call Saul (returns in 2017)

Forgot to mention the other TV show I watch is "Shark Tank".

But not like the above 2 which I eagerly await when they're in season.

Shark Tank I watch when I come across it, and also have downloaded past seasons to catch up on it but watch these occasionally.

Shows I have on in the background when working on the computer include:

"Couples Therapy" had one great season -

it had Joe "Girls Gone Wild" Francis and gf; a young male gay porn performer who claimed to be straight (natch) and gf; the nicest couple from "Teen Mom" (another "background" show) whose names I don't know (the thin guy with dad just out of jail); a total space cadet female porn star and boyfriend; a lesbian couple who were constantly overstressed; Lindsay Lohan's divorced parents which includes a nutjob father (he guested on the Howard Stern show a few times - bigly wacko); and Flava Flav with gf or wife:

Flav on the right

With a crew like that (close to a Dream Team), was undoubtedly one of the cultural events of the century...

I watched Mel Gibson's "Hacksaw Ridge" last night.

Lost for words to be honest. Outstanding and possibly one of the most brutal and realistic (anti) war movies I have ever seen. Can't recommend it highly enough.

The extraordinary true story of conscientious objector Desmond T. Doss who saved 75 men in Okinawa, during the bloodiest battle of WWII, without firing a single shot.

Yes, I can agree.  Watched it last night, very good

Finished The Bureau yesterday, thoroughly enjoyed it.

There's a second season available, but I can't find it. Anyone know where it is?

Started Fauda last night, so far very good.

Unforgotten, Season 2

I really enjoyed the first season of this fine show, and Season 2 looks like there will be no letdown in quality of acting or script. Nicola Walker is one of my favorite British actresses. She's got a great "careworn" face, and really cares about obtaining closure and justice in cold missing persons cases.

There are so many recognizable actors here from other British "cop shows."  Walker and Adeel Aktar were principal characters on "River," my favorite "police procedural", and young Joseph Altin, also from River, plays a very similar role here. Also in the cast are the guy who played the rat b------d police commissioner who did my darling Keely Hawes wrong in Line of Duty. Several other cast members also look very familiar, so I've been cross-reffing IMDB to see where I "know them" from.

I'd really like to see the return of Stellan Skarsgard as River, but meanwhile he is fantastically good in the Norski film "In Order of Disappearance." That film is one of the best I've seen in quite a while.

Anybody know when Line of Duty will return? These British police dramas are SO much better than the American ones! And it's great the way they wrap things up in 6 or 8 episodes, always leaving us hungry for more.

TEN

Thanks for recommending this show. I started watching Season 1 last night.  It is an addictive show. The lead actress, Nicola Walker, was also  good in "Spooks: MI5"

Apple Tree Yard

A new 5 part series from the Beeb.

IMDB: Married with two grown-up children, Yvonne Carmichael lives a contented, conventional suburban life. But her world spirals into chaos,
when a chance encounter leads to an impulsive and passionate affair with a charismatic stranger.

Spoiler alert! I suppose after losing your kids in a fire, then the wife divorcing him, followed by his bro dying his attitude might be less than stellar.

I normally like this kind of movie but I thought at 2 hours and 17 minutes it dragged on a bit.

Thought it was ok,  but IMO, doesn't deserve an 8.4 rating on IMDB.

Snowtown

Most Aussies will have heard about the Snowtown murders.

Saw it on the weekend and it's a belter of a movie.

IMDB: Based on true events, 16 year-old Jamie falls in with his mother's new boyfriend and his crowd of self-appointed
neighbourhood watchmen, a relationship that leads to a spree of torture and murder.

I really enjoyed this and just finished it myself last week. Looking forward to season 2.

I just started American Horror Story season 6. This one isn't as good as the first 5 seasons which I really enjoyed (unexpectedly).

I watched Moana (2016) last night. Brilliant film. Great story, great action and great soundtrack. I was glued to my laptop.
Another great tv series on netflix is a series unfortunate events. Give it a whirl.

Tv Series - Cardinal

A good start to this new 6 part series from Canada.

IMDB: An adaptation of Giles Blunt's award-winning mystery novel Forty Words for Sorrow, the series stars Billy Campbell
as John Cardinal and Karine Vanasse as Lise Delorme, detectives investigating the murder of a young girl.

I'm halfway through Fauda and it's my early tip for show of the year.

I watched Rough 1 and I slept through half of it though I'm delighted to say my grand boys enjoyed it...

Finished Fauda yesterday, I deffo agree with you Will27, that this could be show of the year.

It ended with enough left to have another season.
