Not For Sale: Attempt to sell Phuket beachfront state-owned land for B3.6bn draws fire

PHUKET: An online advertisement selling prime beachfront land on Phuket’s west coast for B3.66 billion has spurred officials into action as the land in question is currently illegally occupied by encroachers facing forced eviction as ordered by the Supreme Court.

The advertisement, posted on the “224Land” Facebook page on April 18, went viral and as of last week had already had more than 8,000 shares with nearly 4,000 people specifically posting comments about it.

Regardless, the lead figure tasked with evicting the encroachers since the Supreme Court handed down its decision on Nov 1 last year (see story here) said he was initially unaware of the move to sell the land.

I've got shares in half a sinking ship if anyone's interested

Just recently spoke to an expat couple who forked out 25,000,000 baht on a beach front house.

Absolutely no paperwork in existence but the agent assured them it will be ready in about one year.

It's happened before, it's happening now and it will happen again in the future.

".......the ongoing delays in removing the encroachers at Layan and Leypang has allowed the illegal business operators one more tourism high season to profit before leaving their sites."

Who says they are leaving at all?

Kiss goodbye to that then.

Red flag goes up on the price.  That's way too low for a decent beach front house.

Think they spent another couple of mil' on renovation.

They claim it's now worth 40,000,000.

And who in their right mind would fork out 40 million on something without papers let alone 25 and why would it take a year to sort the papers out.
