Hi All,

I notice that a lot of members of this sub forum use Macrium software for their backups, etc. A lot using the freeware versions as well, so you may not be aware of the following message (by email) received this morning. Senders address was [email protected] so I am taking this at face value that it is legit. Also includes links to their knowledge base. The problem appears to be about incremental and differential images, so not sure how many people this could potentially affect. Message as follows:

Dear Customer

We are contacting you to inform you of a problem we have identified with Macrium Reflect v7.1.3147, v7.1.3159 and v7.1.3169. These builds were available for download from 17th April till 3rd of May when the issue was resolved with the release of v7.1.3196.

It is possible for Macrium Reflect to created corrupt Incremental, and to a lesser extent, Differential Images if they were created with the releases listed above. *These images should not be restored.*

If you haven't done so already, we strongly advise that you update to the latest release (v7.1.3196) by taking the 'Other Tasks' > 'Check for updates' menu option.

More information on identifying corrupt images and what to do next can be found here:

Thanks. I always do a new backup as I have always had issues with incrementals. Macrium is superb and I will purchase the full version so that I can password the backup, shortly.

Saw from their web site this only affects their paid app.

The free app doesn't use their advanced system, so is not affected.

A good way is to always use at least once a week a full Backup and daily an incremental backup.

@Ginkas: they are didn't do services for free versions, so they didn't mind about bugs on the free version, which is only given out to 'catch' and force the user to use a paid version for which they doing full services.

OP, thanks for posting that. I'm always updating, Macrium does a great job and they always fix bugs ASAP. A great tool. I always have an older backup, if all goes wrong.
