chicken breast

Featured Replies

There is a lady who sells boiled chicken with rice. I have tried pointing but with her case it doesn't work.

How do i say white chicken breast only?

I also would not mind the dried blood chunks sometimes. How do i say that?

Thank you!

I guess you are talking about Khao Man Gy ....sometimes refered to as Hainan chicken rice.

If you just want the breast with no skin or bones just say :

' My ow nang krap ' ( don't want the skin )

This is the commonest way of saying you just want the white meat. Any other more litteral translation will probably confuse her and you will not get what you want.

The blood...or luat ...can be dealt with this way :

ow = want

my ow = don't want

ow luat / my ow luat

However.....it naturally occurs that if all the breast is gone you will sometimes get the meat from the leg....

not the same at all. Really...to get this absolutely right you could need even more Thai and unless you pronounce it all correctly it will further confuse. Hence I have kept it simple.

There are good vendors and bad. Some are better than others. It helps to have a good look at the way it is all being presented first before ordering. If the ingredients all look good and plentiful you are more likely to get a nice meal.

Try Nam yai?  But I think she may slap you or say 2,000 baht!

Big water ??

She will just point to the ice bucket and tell you it is self service.

Nom yai ......well yes....that could get you more than you bargained for ,good or bad.
