Finnish man busted for pot

PATTAYA:--Immigration police arrested a Finnish man for possession of marijuana.

 

Officers picked up Jussi Eemeli Laukkanen, 34, for “acting suspiciously” on Thepprasit Soi 7 May 26. Unable to provide his passport, Laukkanen took officers to the Parkland Jomtien Residence where he agreed to let police search his apartment.

 

Not only did the officers find Laukkanen’s passport with a valid visa, they also found 105 grams of marijuana in a clear plastic bag. The Finn admitted to buying it from a Thai dealer for 2,500 baht, police said.

What will be the likely outcome for this guy? Will he go straight jail? Will he be able to pay a fine at the station and go on his merry way OR pay bail, go to court, plead guilty and pay fine with no deportation if it's his first time offence? Surely with so many peoole trying to sell you drugs on walking st/beach rd many foreigners must get caught. Does anyone have any experience or stories to share?

Strange really, i get offered marijuana around 20 times everytime i walk along beach road, police aren't interested in stopping that

That's a pretty ignorant comment coming from anyone these days, especially if you're living in Thailand. That is considered art by many people. 

 

Obviously he did get picked up for his Tattoos. What else did "acting suspiciously" mean? The picked on him for the very same reason you did.

What reason did the Thai cops have for asking to search his apartment.  Why did he even let them in?  Get your passport, show them at the door.  Say sorry and promise to carry it from then on.
