Crime Police Disguise as Food Delivery Rider to Arrest Fugitive
Picture courtesy of Daily News. Police in Bang Lamung, Chon Buri, disguised themselves as food delivery riders to arrest a man wanted on firearms charges. The operation, carried out on 16 August, was led by Pol Col Sarawut Nuchanart, superintendent of Bang Lamung Police Station. Acting on intelligence that the suspect was hiding in the area, officers devised a covert plan to approach him without raising suspicion. Members of the investigation team donned rider uniforms, wigs and casual clothing to blend in with local residents. Once in position, they moved in swiftly and detained the 43-year-old man, a native of Chaiyaphum province. The arrest was made under a warrant issued by Phu Khieo Provincial Court on 12 October 2023 (No. 119/2566), charging the suspect with unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition. Following his capture, the man was transferred to Kaeng Khro Police Station in Chaiyaphum, the jurisdiction where the warrant originated, for further legal proceedings. Former Pheu Thai spokesman Prompong Nopparit labelled the rumours as a "groundless fabrication" intended to damage Thaksin and Paetongtarn as critical court decisions loom this month. The Criminal Court is set to deliver its verdict on Thaksin's lèse majesté and computer crime case on 22nd August. A week later, on 29th August, the Constitutional Court will determine whether Paetongtarn breached ethical standards concerning a leaked audio clip with Cambodian Senate President Hun Sen. Prompong warned that dragging judges into politics could tarnish judicial credibility. He emphasised that claims against Thaksin's case hold no substance and that Paetongtar's case features robust evidence. "The prime minister has acted transparently," he stated, affirming that the leaked clip poses no security threat, reported the Bangkok Post. The controversy began with a recording that was leaked online on 18th June, which features Paetongtarn purportedly criticising the Second Army Region commander and offering assistance to Hun Sen. The case accuses her of violating ethical standards for political officeholders. In her court clarification, Paetongtarn described the remarks as mere negotiation tactics, not improper offers. The audio has sparked a family rift between the Shinawatras and Hun Sen’s family. Former senator Somchai Swangkarn also dismissed the rumours of a secret deal, clarifying that the visit of the Constitutional Court judges to India was part of an official training programme. He provided evidence from the court’s website to debunk the claims. The website confirms that the court president and judges participated in an executive training programme in India, which involved meeting key legal figures and visiting the Supreme Court and Delhi University. Tourism and Sports Minister Sorawong Thienthong noted that Paetongtarn would attend court on 21st August, coinciding with her birthday. Despite potential political setbacks, Sorawong expressed confidence in Paetongtarn's integrity and foresaw all issues being resolved factually. Questions regarding a contingency plan for a potential replacement led Sorawong to acknowledge Chaikasem Nitisiri, a seasoned nominee who is prepared to step in if necessary. Crime Uncle Arrested After Killing Nursing Student Niece

Police in Trang Province have arrested a 44-year-old man accused of fatally attacking his 21-year-old niece, a third-year nursing student, in a shocking domestic incident. The suspect, identified as Mr. Suriyan “Den” Yadam, allegedly used a hoe to strike his niece, Ms. Parichat “Cheer” Yadam, multiple times in her family home in Nong Chang Laen Subdistrict, Huai Yot District, on 16 August. Emergency responders found Ms. Parichat severely injured and transported her to Huai Yot Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Following the attack, Mr. Yadam fled into the nearby hills. Police from Huai Yot and Ratsa stations, working with local authorities and rescue teams, set up a coordinated manhunt and eventually apprehended him along with the blood-stained weapon and clothing. During questioning, Mr. Yadam reportedly admitted to the killing, citing long-standing disputes and perceived family grievances. He claimed he had been resentful of the attention and care his niece received from their family. Witnesses described him as showing no visible remorse. Ms. Parichat’s grandmother, 65-year-old Mrs. Chanapha Yadam, who raised her from childhood, expressed profound grief at the loss of her granddaughter. “She was on her way to a bright future as a nurse,” she said, tearfully. Authorities have charged Mr. Yadam with murder and are conducting further investigations, including drug testing, as he has a history of substance abuse.
