The Ubonrat Dam in Khon Kaen doubled its water release on Monday to free the reservoir's capacity ahead of the upcoming monsoons.

Khon Kaen governor Somsak Jangtrakul said the dam had increased the speed of water release from 5 million cubic metres per day to 10 million cubic metres.

Somsak said several days of rain had caused water to flow into the reservoir at the rate of 11 million cubic meters per day and the reservoir now had 1,020 cubic metres of water.

The increased rate was aimed at preventing floods in downstream areas during the monsoon season, when more rains are expected, the governor said.

The water management committees of downstream provinces Roi Et, Mahasarakham and Kalasin will be kept informed of all decisions related to the dam, the governor added.

:cheesy::cheesy:

Thai journalists and numbers.

At least a million to add.

Maximum fill is 2263 million cubic meters (WiKi).

So about half full?

You could of course look here to get this mornings figures of 1018 MCM, or 42%, so 1020 is pretty close as the report was yesterday in time for this mornings news bulletin.

Did you miss the joke?

The text says "1,020 cubic meters" instead of "1,020 million cubic meters". :smile:

1.020 billion cubic meters would also be fine (US "billions").

But thanks for the link.
