Taxi driver takes unconscious ten year old to hospital - she had been raped

Sanook reported on a disturbing story after a taxi driver took an unconscious ten year old girl to hospital in the Samut Sakhon area outside Bangkok.

 

Doctors at Krathum Baen Hospital alerted the police after the girl was admitted Tuesday night. Tests showed that she had been raped.

 

The hunt is now on for the rapist.

 

Taxi driver Sommai, 58, told police that he had just taken a passenger to Soi Wat Bang Pla and was on his way home and was stuck near some lights on the Sethakit 1 Road near the Sura Krathing Daeng factory.

 

He saw a young girl aged about ten slumped on the front of a motorcycle ridden by a man.

 

The man stopped and knocked on his window saying that he had found the girl by the roadside and that she had been badly hurt. He begged the taxi driver to take her to hospital.

 

The girl was unconscious and was loaded up into the front passenger seat of the cab. The man said that there was a piece of paper in the girl's trouser pocket with contact details of her relatives.

 

The man said he would report the matter to the police then follow on to the hospital.

 

Sommai raced to the hospital to deliver the girl - but the man subsequently did not show up.

 

In the panic at the roadside he had failed to notice the make of motorcycle or license plate - all he could remember was that the man was aged about 40.

 

Police called the number on the note and found out that the girl was looked after by grandparents in Ang Thong province north of Bangkok.

 

She had been picked up by her stepfather and the grandparents had been told that she was going to be taken to see her mother.

 

Police would not comment at this stage on what might have happened to her.

 

The poorly lit area where the girl was loaded into the taxi was in the Muang Samut Sakhon police jurisdiction so the case was handed over to them for investigation.

 

The taxi driver was being re-interviewed by them.

 

It was further discovered that there was a mobile phone found in the cab. It is believed to have been dropped by the man who loaded the girl into the taxi.

 

Police are trying to verify that.

I suppose he is a Prime Suspect, as he has been questioned twice. But as strange as his story sounds I beleive him. 

 

The person of greater interest to me is the 40 year old man on the motorcycle. How could he possible know the girl had a note in her pocket with a telephone number to relatives, unless he put it there? Or why relatives and not father or mother?

 

Unless of course this man is the Stepfather who went to pick this girl up in the first place, which would not surprise me in the least bit.
