PM plays down reports of promotions for civil servants-state officials working for NCPO

 

 

BANGKOK, 18th June 2018 (NNT) - The Prime Minister has played down reports that civil servants and state officials, who have been working to support the National Council for Peace and Order, will be rewarded with special promotions. 

Following media reports that the Cabinet had approved in principle a plan to award 600 civil servants and state officials an immediate two-step rise in their occupational level, Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha said that the Cabinet has only acknowledged such a plan, which was proposed by the NCPO. 

Gen. Prayut said that the Cabinet also asked security-related units and the NCPO to review criteria for the plan, which is aimed at those helping with all NCPO operations, in order to ensure fairness before any approval is given. 

The PM stated that some news outlets have reported the issue inaccurately which seemed like an attempt to discredit the government. 

Gen. Prayut went on to say that the government has always recognized hard work by state officials across the country, who deserve remuneration and promotion to help boost their morale, although he noted that all considerations about promotion and rewards must be based on the available budget and subject to rigid criteria and conditions.

You pat my back and I'll pat yours. Of course they will be rewarded. This is standard operating procedure amongst civil servants, world wide. One could not possibly expect anything otherwise in this government.

 

Because the ordinary Thai is generally stoical, good natured, patient and prepared to "grin and bear it", the regime has to try just that much harder to rouse his/her anger.

 

This they are doing.

 

Be patient Westerners.........it'll be worth the wait.

Who would turn down a promotion at work? It is always best to comply with the bosses demands at work, maybe moreso if your bosses are the military.

Sounds like the media had every right to worry.  If you try to discredit me, I will try to discredit you.  Mind numbing tit for tat that will go on forever.

The concept of mind numbing tit for tat is a disease that is spreading from USA.

More support for the 47% that have no faith in the government's anti-corruption efforts.  

The NCPO proposed a plan to reward the NCPO, to which Prayut asked the NCPO to review the plan.

 

Maybe that's why: "47 percent of Thais believe no government can tackle corruption problem"

This is a blatant effort to further interject the "deep state" within the government bureaucracy prior to the next elected government should it not be sympathetic to Prayut's leadership.

The next government should fire all those people who accept such "rewards" as corruption. This award is not merit-based but rather loyalty-based.

Civil Service loyalty should be to the constitutional democratic monarchy and constitution - not to those who chose to circumvent the Thai polity's sovereignty and deprive them of their rights and liberties. The reward for that loyalty lies in the security of people's rights and liberties who compose the nation - an award in itself!

Another step to assure that after the "election 20??" the power remains where is now!

This "award" system sure does smell bad (and it hasn't even happened yet).

Pretty sure the act of "tit for tat", has been around a lot longer than the U.S.A.

You don't seem to be much of a History buff, as this type of "award" system has been around

forever.  

Ah, the payoff close to arrival.

 

With any luck, the first order of business for an incoming non-Prayuth government will be to sack them all. No pension, no notice just 'go home now - close the door - from the other side'.
