Drunk man dies in Ayutthaya police cell

By The Nation

A drunk man died of heart failure inside a police station’s detention room in Ayutthaya’s Wang Noi district after he was placed there to calm down after threatening people.

Police captured Chatchai Triwut, 26, from a petrol station at 4pm on Thursday and put him in a cell at the Want Noi police station after he undressed himself and loudly threatened to attack passers-by.

According to police, about an hour later the man had turned quiet and so they went to check his cell and found him barely breathing. Police called an ambulance but arriving rescuers found Chatchai had died.

His body was sent to Thammasat Hospital for a postmortem.

His mother, Jintana Triwut, 60, went to the police station at 7.30pm to file documents reclaiming her son’s body.

She said she lived alone with her son after he was discharged from military service three years ago.

I'm a part time resident of Ayutthaya and it is not unusual to occasionally see drug addled men sauntering about partially nude screaming at you, your trash can, a bush, or just themselves, sometimes brandishing a machete. Police sometimes pick up, hold until the drugs effects are gone, then turn them loose, only for them to find their stash of pills and begin the circus all over.

Happens a lot He is not the first and he won't be the last to die from alcohol poisoning  Was in Amsterdam and there are lots of people there drugged or drunk just sitting in shopping malls Bench parks etc Very sad to see This was in the middle of the day  Just never will forget that image Lots teenagers and people in their 20sand some older. Maybe that is why I hate drug pushers so much. The death sentence would be great for them because that is what they are doing to these people by giving them  a death sentence by supplying drugs

In my soi oldrunner we don't see to much of that. Lots of good looking ladies but not people drugged. Maybe there are?
