A Saudi Arabian citizen has died following a trip to Koh Naka yesterday (June 25). Thalang Police were notified by staff at the Thalang Hospital last night.

A body of a man, identified as 56 year old Alanazi Ali Awad M from Saudi Arabia, was at Thalang Hospital when police arrived.

38 year old Sarawut Denser, a tour guide, told police that yesterday at about 4pm, he was taking a group of tourists to Koh Naka, 5 minutes from Ao Po. Tourists were playing on the beach for one hour. After that they returned to the boat.

Seems that most of the news these days is about who has died in Thailand and where.

News articles about the 99.999% of tourists that survive their Thai holiday adventure just don't seem to get the clicks.

He had chest pains in the morning and went to the hospital! They gave him medication. Guess it didn't work too good. Can we have the name of the hospital where not to go?

'Most of the news'

I've told you a million times not to exaggerate.

Man dies of heart attack, lets attack thai medical service

Did he have a pre existing condition?

Was he overweight and over exerted himself while on the tour.

Was he using viagra unprescribed as many male tourists do

Hey lets ignore what maybe happening in the background and move directly to condemnation

Apparently the nhs has received damning criticism re its treatment of heart related ailments in the emergency rooms.

Maybe we need to find out which ones not to go to there.

Remember where this happened. If the doctor treated him with a wooden stake through the heart, they probably would identify him as Dr.x & the hospital would be a prestigious world renowned medical establishment.

Looking at the link in the OP: yes, he did: " Talal Ali, the son of Mr Alanazi, told police that his father has a history of personal health issues. "

From the news article:

"He says his father had sustained chest pains since the morning. He had already been to a hospital and given medication before he went on the trip."

A guy goes to a hospital with chest pains, (and a pre-existing heart condition) in the morning. Obviously the hospital did not notice the seriousness of his condition! Or he may still be alive.

And whether this hospital is in Thailand or in any other country, there is something wrong somewhere.

Thank you very much for you opinion and I am welcome to mine.

Or maybe, just maybe, he shouldn't have gone on a boat trip with a pre-existing heart condition and chest pains.

Heart issues are very difficult to diagnose, even in advanced healthcare facilities.

Three years ago, I started feeling "pressure" whenever I walked a longer distance or was carrying something.  I didn't perceive it as pain, just an uncomfortable pressure.  I shrugged it off to indigestion and age.  As time went on, it started happening more frequently with less exertion. More "pressure" as well though I still didn't think of it as chest pain.

A friend who is a retired physician came to visit about a year into this situation. We went for a walk around some scenic areas and he noted my difficulty.  He marched me straightaway to a local hospital.

I was given a host of tests short of a stress test and angiogram which I could not afford. Those tests indicated minor blockage of two cardiac arteries.  They said I was at minor risk for a heart attack but not acute.  My friend concurred.

I have free health coverage in the US so I elected to wait until I returned there to address the issue.

It was six months before I actually got to the US and my symptoms had gotten worse.

I checked into my local Veterans Hospital and started a battery of test.  They had to suspend my stress test before completion and immediately sent me to the OR for an angioplasty.

I literally died on the table...my BP crashed and heart stopped.  If you're going to die, an OR is a good place to do it.

I awoke the next day, tubes and IVs in every orifice and found I had been given triple cardiac by-pass surgery.  I was informed that two of my blockages were nearly 90% and the other slightly less.  They could not understand how I had survived the the last year and the journey.

Now, 18 months on, 10kg lighter, no discomfort at all.  I walk a minimum of a mile a day.

I'm writing all this so people can understand that symptoms of severe cardiac issues can present themselves in very different ways and can easily fool not only you but medical professionals as well.  The fact that I described what I felt as "pressure" and not "pain" misled me and Doctors into thinking my issues were not as severe as they were.  Hospital tests including EKG, Cardiac MRI and doppler bloodflow scans also did not reveal the severity of the blockages. Only an Angiogram and stress test would have revealed these issues and I had declined those.

If anybody is having chest discomfort during even moderate exertion, don't treat it casually.  I was very fortunate to come out of it alive.

Had  chest  pains  i the morning...went to the  hospital...was  given  medication...( and  more than likely advised  to rest or  even suggested  admission  for observation.)

But  no, takes  a  boat trip  and  maybe  played  volley   ball with a group.

Where is  the  Hospital  at  fault really?

If this had been in the news article then I agree with you.

Yes, it is a  shame we are  not  made  privy to the  complete story  on which to  base any critical  comment.
