I was thinking the same thing even if they went by ground.  Either they lose control to reckless [Thai] driving conditions....or maybe they were stuck behind someone who refuses to yield to emergency vehicle.  Perhaps a police/military escort to clear the way would make things smoother.

Let's not jinx it though and keep it all positive....at least until everyone gets out.

This article is kind of overkill though.  Should just be a pinned thread with all the updates until the last person is out.

Getting them out is seriously good news. Please lets keep it positive. It took a hell of a lot of work from people a lot braver than me. Now is not the time to be negative.

So what mode of fast transportation do you recommend for the transfer? Don't say ambulance because someone says other vehicles might not yeild to the emergency vehicle.

No vehicle is totally safe...anywhere in the world. The helicopter is the fastest way to hospital. I'd rather take my chances in that than in an ambulance on wet roads in the dark.

Cave diving, ambulances, helicopters.

By golly these boys have a great Monday talk topic.

Lets rejoice at the boys safety.

Why the idiotic comments about transport.  All that matters is that they ALL  get reunited to their families by whatever means are available.

Well done to everyone involved.

What is your  point here ? Let us be happy, the team could escape. Let us be proud and express our sincere thanks to the kids, who could remain strong and the rescue team, who performed gigantic work. Let us be proud that a lot of nation can join together for a good thing.

The heli looks to be a Sikorsky S-92 made in the USA (not Russian or Chinese thank Buddha). And obviously the heli crew would have been trained overseas directly/indirectly either by Americans, Brits or Aussies.

So you most likely just shot yourself in the mouth. Well done Mr. Optimistic.

You can't heal insanity, can you? My first thoughts were that all is well organised. No time to read such weird posts.

Let's hope they all make It there in good health...

Let's hope that this entire rescue operations builds up respect between Thai officials and foreigners and vice versa.

The coach has also had a somewhat tragic life himself, losing most of his immediate family to disease when he was young. He spent many years as a monk, so was able to comfort the kids and get them to meditate to relax through this ordeal.

The  sign at entrance says July not enter ( Warning ) , they went in June 23rd...why crucify the coach . Maybe coach was a  little  stupid for taking in there in the first place, ..Their were NO intent of harm….But He saved them...( Meditation) was a monk for 10 years..Just think what if he had not been there? ? He is presently the one in  the worse condition, gave all food and water to the boys. He saved those boys lives, , further more officials should have Gated the entrance  knowing the risk long ago…They be the ones should be held accountable...

Anyhow, the pilot was a US sheila...

It's a Russian MI-17.

From someone that has flown in them. ?

In that case all the more kudos to the bravery of the kids & pilots having to fly them. I'd rather take my chances in a Thai driven ambulance.
