You could have found yourself a nice little village in Thailand to retire too , if you befriended a lady from a village ,an older single lady with a family , they would welcome a felang who would be willing to financially help out and to become"one of the family" , stay in the house for free and spend the money that you save on accommodation on buying food for the family ."Adopt" a kid and give parenting a go , give you something to do and a purpose in life

Sounds just like what I had with my wife, except it didn't work out when they decided they wanted my money more than me.

BTW, where are all those mythical villages where the peasants want to give farangs the 800,000 baht for visa extensions, and the 60,000 plus for health insurance?

But you keep complaining about the lack of nightlife in CM .

You need to make up your mind what you want .

Do you still want to act like a teenager , going out drinking all night or do you want to act your age ?

You need to decide what you want to do , rather than just drifting around and waiting to see what will happen

Decent nightlife is always enjoyable, but rarely "exciting" as in exploring Antarctica, for instance.

I may be old, but I still have enough hormones left to enjoy the sight of a lovely lady with a perfect body and not much clothing doing the chrome pole shuffle.

To be Francis, I'd really like to be able to act like a teenager, and I hope I've never acted my age. Too boring.

There's nothing wrong with drifting around and waiting to see what will happen. Doing that took me all over the world. Had I gone with what I planned when I left school, I'd have been a divorced shepherd with the regulation 2 kids and x number of grandkids by now. I think drifting was a much more exciting option.

Man, if I had to spend the rest of my days in a western nursing home, I'd be pretty depressed as well.  I think your problem in CM was deciding to live in the Loi Kroh area.  You can easily get that "peace and quiet" out in the suburbs of CM, which is pretty much all the surrounding area outside the city.  But anyways, good luck.  I always thought you were a straight-shooter who was pretty fair-minded...most of the time.

Thank you for that.

Actually, while I was off Loi Kroh, it was like being far, far away from it. Very quiet soi, and no bars anywhere near it. I stayed more because the hotel was so good than because of the location. It was more like my home than an hotel.

Don't bother asking which hotel it is, as they now have a building site very near, and I got out just in time. If I hadn't been leaving C M anyway, I'd certainly have had to change accommodations.

BTW, just for interest, the first night I was back in the world, I couldn't believe how quiet it was. In LOS there is always some noise going on- barking dogs, tuk tuks and m'bikes, people talking etc. In my rented apartment here, it was so quiet I could almost hear my heart beating.

I didnt say that anyone would provide you with a visa , you would have to sort the visa out yourself

Why not do both:

Have fun when you are younger and healthy.  Get some experience.  Try different things.

When in your late 30s to early 50s .  Work hard, save as much as possible. You are more likely to be successful in that age range and with your wild fun out of the way you can concentrate on being successful.

In your early 50s (if no divorce or family commitments) you should have enough money to live on for the rest of your life.  Time to enjoy again and have fun!

I did that. Joined the service at 20 and travelled the world for 11 years. Then I ( unfortunately ) got involved with the wrong woman and regretted it.

Started from scratch at 35. Became a nurse and used that to travel the world ( qualified nurses are in demand everywhere ) for 17 years.

Spent the last 10 years saving like mad to move to LOS when I stopped work.

Retired in LOS with the wrong woman, and now it's back where I started from, all those many years ago.

Been a great life when I wasn't playing house, and few regrets about not having a "normal" life. I spent a lot on women and song, the rest I wasted.

I went to a go go bar one time and got bored after a few minutes , just watching a girl in a bikini dancing . Been again a few times since and always get bored before Ive finished my first drink

You were never in a decent gogo then. Hollywood Royale in the mid 90s was as good and interesting as it gets, plus the ladies were gorgeous and a lot of fun. Many a night I left after sun up. These days it's all over about 1 am in Bkk and earlier in C M.

I feel sorry for those that never got to experience the night life at it's best.

Agree that gogos where all that happens is the girls shuffling around a pole are boring. Just have to find a good one, and with dozens in Pattaya and Bkk that takes a lot of time and patience. The best ones are those where the ladies are enjoying themselves.

The OP left because of personal circumstances. The complaining about CMs development or non-development is just an excuse and not worth to be discussed here.

Of course. That was just a comment about what I liked or didn't.

I doubt anyone leaves LOS because of the drains.

I went to the full on live sex shows, live sex on stage , back in the day , those were quite interesting , I just find it boring watching girls dancing on stage .

I did enjoy going clubbing ,getting on the dancefloor myself, ladies there as well , just cant sit and watch girls dancing on stage for more than a few minutes

In the early 90s there was a couple down Patpong that did it on a motorbike. Unfortunately I never got to see that.

Personally, there have been a few ladies I could watch on stage for hours. I think those days have gone for ever. Perhaps when AI is advanced enough, we'll be able to get a virtual reality version. Hopefully before I pass.

I'm unable to understand how people like watching live sex shows, just a live version of online porn.

I prefer my own personal interaction with my Thai GF behind closed doors. Not a show, maybe I'm just shy. Having said that, we do enjoy positional variations.

That was in the days before the internet and when porn wasnt available
