It is real easy for you!  There are busses from Korat to Poi Phet (4hours) is you need to do the Uturn.

If you need to arrange a new visa then the Savannakhet Lao is the best deal but you will have to pay about 1,500 baht for a Lao visa at the border.  All up cost for 60 tourist vias is about 4,000.
