Pension uplift when in UK

Recommended Posts

Going to UK for a while means you can get an uplift for the period you are there.

What is the procedure and what paperwork do you have to supply.

Anyone with experience can point me in the right direction ?

I call them on arrival, or at least as soon as I’ve purchased a local SIM card.
They normally ask my home address, the frequency my my pension is paid and my NI number.
They will want to know when you arrived in the UK, don’t forget to tell them about any time spent in the EU, and when you’re returning home.
They’ve always asked me for a number I can be contacted on, but they’ve never called and they’ve always asked for the address and/or a post code of an address I’ve stayed during my stay, we normally tour and they’ve only ever asked for one address.
The lasses, it always seems to be lasses, are pretty efficient and friendly.
The extra is paid into the bank after a while and I’ve got a written breakdown some considerable time later.

Definitely better for you to call them, as recommended by theoldgit, rather than write to them as I did prior to my trip to France and the UK last year. Nothing happened afterwards for nearly 6 months until I sent a further letter of complaint to DWP - whereupon matters were then relatively swiftly resolved and I received a whopping one-off increase of £21 for my 3 weeks in the EU!

I assume that you are planning to stay in the UK for considerably longer than this - in which case you might well get an increase worth having.
