Just underwent a root canal treatment but there’s some complication and may need surgery.  Can someone recommend a competent Root Canal Surgery specialist in Bangkok?

I’m finding out there aren’t many root canal surgeons around.  There are many endodontists but most will not do surgery.

Thanks for any suggestions.

I strongly recommend you go to Bangkok Hospital's Dental Clinic. I am from the USA and had 2 root canal procedures done there last year. Very professional and did an excellent job.

If you are paying out-of-pocket you will be happy as the prices are 1/3rd of the USA. I work in the healthcare sector in Bkk so if you need additional help let me know.

I paid 7000 in CM, 8 years ago...three visits, and 8000 18 months ago for two treatments.  Vertical cracks can be a curse, and they often don't show in the x-ray.  However, you can abort after the first treatment (extract).and it is still less than a CT scan that would show the crack to begin with.  1000-1500 USD is closer to what they run in the US.  3000 would include a nice crown, unless you are getting robbed.

Do you work in the health sector? I am sorry but your information is inaccurate. Root Canal (Molar) is $500, Root Canal (Anterior) is $300. These prices do not include radiology, prescriptions, and post/core build up which itself is $250. As stated out of pocket is 30-35k baht. Either you are not a U.S. citizen or you haven't had any dental procedure in the U.S. for 20 years as both sets of numbers are out of wack and misleading.

the fact that you are employed in the health sector doesn't mean you are an expert on dental care prices in Thailand, let alone have rudimentary knowledge of Economics.  16,700 would be On the very high end for BKK...x-rays run 100-200 THB  each...

molar root canal:  8-10,000....,next.

Had mine done in Bangkok Pattaya hospital, 35k baht. A dentist in the Uk recently X- rayed it and said that the work was excellent.

Had the same work done in the UK a couple of years previously, equivalent of 15k baht.

so you paid double in LOS, what it cost in the UK?  I can show average in the US for a molar at 1184 USD....

Are we talking about up north? No, the posting asked for BKK prices. You need to insult people on this forum because they correct your statement? You are a scholar and a gentleman.

Bangkok Hospital is the most expensive place to have dental work done in Thailand. However, you get what you pay for. Dentists in Thailand are, generally, dreadful.

Have been told that dental work is much cheaper in the UK than the US.

First you stated it would be a third here of the US..and you paid 1000, meaning it would be 3000 in the US...unless mister medical professional needed two root canal at once...which would be unusual.  Later you said it was 500 is here..Mel price was cut in half in a day...I stated I recently paid 8000 in CM for a molar and you deny it.  Many of the dentist here studied in CM...., but yes, it is a little less up there,  But,..No, 1000 is not a fair deal here, and No, a root canal doesn't cost 3000 in the US, and antibiotics and xrays cost less than a lady(,boy) drink at NEP.  So do a little research, before you spout.  And, it by chance you are just another chiropractors parading as a medical professional..you should give fair warning.

I disagree, and the Thais have a lot better teeth than the Brits, but that may have more to do with bad genetics.  Eye doctors are an entirely different matter.....

Bad teeth genetics? LOL! Are you serious? Now I know I am dealing with someone with superior medical knowledge. And slightly racists towards Brits

Disagree all you like, it happens to be true. Thais have better teeth than Brits? Where did you get that nonsense from?

Who mentioned eye doctors?

If you want to be the forum's foremost Thai apologist you need to get your facts checked and write a bit more coherently.

OK, now I see (no pun intended) why you mentioned eye doctors. Sorry to hear about the deficiency in your eyesight.

So why do so many people I meet from the UK have missing or bad teeth? ?

Bloody hell, some of you can even argue about teeth.

How about civil discourse?

Fine, I just hate to see people on here promoting very high priced medical care...not the first time people have been called out on it.  Thong Lo?  Yes, all of BKK is like that..

Don;t forget that the results of a Root Canal last about 7 years...

after this the tooth, which had actually died those 7 years back - cracks/fractures

as it has become extremely brittle

i.e double your original cost estimates

Friend had some heavy stuff done at Bangkok pattaya. Surgery to install implant.

I was there two days ago. Check up on my glued in cap. The only place that had glass ionomer glue. Seems like they can do it all there.

Yes. Mine fractured but still serviceable. 30 years on. Needs glass ionomer glue to stick everything in place.

you are lucky!   back then in 80s & 90s, they admitted the glue used was basically a superglue... (no sheer strength)

1. Please keep it civil. Flaming posts have beem removed.

2. Please stay on topic. The OP did not ask for cost estimates and is not looking for a place to get a root canal --- root canal has already been done but there have been some unspecified complications.

OP please be more specific as to the nature of the complications and type of surgery that may be needed as it makes a difference in where best to go.

I am not clear if you need root canal re-treatment (endodontist) drainage of an abscess (oral surgeon) or what.
