A former municipal councillor apparently shot his wife dead and then turned the gun on himself in Kalasin on Monday night.

Khao Wong district police had to break open the front door of the two-storey home of Amornrat Busamongkol, 56, in Ban Saen Suk, Tambon Khum Kao.

They found his body on a sofa with a .22-calibre rifle nearby and the body of his wife, Homchan Busamongkol, also 56, on the floor of the living room with a gunshot wound to the head.

It’s believed Amornrat committed suicide by placing a toe on the trigger of the rifle with the barrel in his mouth.

He was a former member of Khao Wong Municipal Council.

A relative, Suthin Nathewet, told police he got no answer when he phoned Amornrat and went to investigate, finding the house doors locked.

He looked in a window and could see Homchan’s body lying in a pool of blood.

My wife is the same age and went to school with both of them. She says the talk is that his wife had another man. Not much different to what we read on ThaiVisa two or three times a week, the only difference this time is that the third party wasn't killed as well.
