90 days overstay.

Featured Replies

Hello, I have a question about overstay.

My boyfriend has 90 day overstay today, and he wants to pay the overstay fee
today and fly out, we weren't able to get the money and ticket any sooner than today.

Now here is my question, is it better if he tries to go on his flight and tell them the overstay at pasport control/counter, or is it better to go to
the immigration office at the airport first? and will he be able to fly out after paying the overstay fee?

He can only pay the overstay fine at departure immigration after checking in for his flight and clearing security.

It cannot be paid at the airport immigration office .

Might seem a picky question but is it 89, 90 or 90 something days?

Could make a difference.

It’s too late to control the overstay duration now, but for clarification the day he entered counts as day 1.

Many people make make the mistake of counting the first full day in the country as day 1.

I posted similar then did an edit as that applies to leave by date. I am assuming the OP is saying that it's now 90 days after the leave by date, ie 29/may/2018 would be Ist day of overstay. I think. !!! so leave on/by would have been 28th. ??

If they have added 120 days to the arrival date then they might have ended up 1 day out on the calculation.

OP would need to post arrival day and stamped leave by day to be sure.

I'd be curious to know what the per day charge for overstay violations might be....

I know that the whole overstay scheme was revamped a couple of years ago - little more stringent and realistic now.

[took 'em a coupla decades to figure out this beneficial element]

Remembering the days of old when overstay fines were a straight B500 per day and a max of B20,000 - regardless of one's overstay time.....2 months or two years. And no blacklisting if fines were paid in full. Easy easy.

Still 500 a day and 20k max but there are some bans that didn't exist before

Same fines as before but there are bans from entering the country for overstaying now.

Glad it seems to have gone ok. Obviously something it's better not to make a habit of though ?. Things have tightening up lately and not a good idea to have a record on.

overherebc, thank you for your advice again.  I was very afraid to take him anywhere, I was thinking what if he got arrested on the street, it was a lesson for us not to follow the rules. Next time when he comes here, we will follow the rules strictly.

When he comes back it will essential to have a return flight booking, at least 20,000 baht in cash and a print out of a hotel booking for his stay and most important a visa already in his passport issued from his country.

It's certain he will be asked a few questions at the airport.

If you dont play nicely all you do is make a rod for your own back these days

There has been a sea change in Thailand over the last few years the good old days are gone for ever

In your case alls well that ends well, plus you have had a nice easy ride in this thread because over stayers are not normally the flavour of the month

That why the rush to leave yesterday since it was his 90th day of overstay. Today he would be of gotten a one year ban from entering the country.

He might actually be ok as it was still on the 90th day upon his exit.. Anything over and no go if the IO stuck to the rules posted.

No sure what you mean by no go. Even if it was over 90 days he would of still been allowed to leave the country. The only difference would be immigration at the airport doing the  banning stamp from entering the country for X number of years along with the standard overstay stamp.

No go should have been no good as was in reference to getting the ban being over the actual stated allotted 90 day being 90 days + 23 hours 59 seconds. .
