The plunging price of crocodiles has caused a farm in Ratchaburi to come up with a novel idea.

They are promoting BBQ croc on a stick for just 20 baht a piece.

The idea is the brainchild of Theerachai Farm boss Sitthichai Paenchart, 50, who said they are getting through up to five crocs a day in their restaurant.

Manager reported that Thais usually eat chicken or pork on a stick and that crocodile was relatively uncommon to be eaten this way.

Sitthichai said from the farm in Nong Krathum sub-district that he has 1000 crocs on the premises. They used to be worth up to 10,000 baht each but the price has fallen to around 4,000.

Restaurant in Pattaya crocodile farm serves them barbecued on a stick. A lot more than 20 baht but very tasty.

"A crocodile sandwich and make it snappy!"

"I'm sorry sir, we've run out of bread".

Tried a small piece in Darwin years ago. Tasted OK (a bit like chicken; what isn't), but I decided that I would form a compact with the animal kingdom. I wouldn't eat anything that could eat me. It has worked so far.

For sure a fat panther killer will a whole one and deposit a tip?
