Hi,

I did try to reply to an existing post (see below), but it is now closed for further comments so am bringing this back up.

I am was born in June 1988,  so am just over 30 year of age. In the forum post mentioned below, a person has stated that after 30 years of age, that someone that has obtained their Thai Passport will be exempt from military service when going back to live in Thailand. I am in the process of obtaining my Thai passport and planning to move to Thailand and would like to know if anyone has a legal site / document somewhere on the internet that states clearly the age requirements for serving military conscription in Thailand or any further information that states i have to go into military service.

Thank you.

But its best to obtain the exemption from military service form at the local district, there should be a military department that handles it. I don't know what its called in Thai, but I got it done. I had a police friend accompany me because the first time I went, the military folks did not want to write up the exempt form for me.

Thanks Mike, sorry for the delayed response. I ended up finding out and was also suggested to do the same thing by a someone that was used to be the Consulate General for Thailand in the embassy of my old country that i lived in. He told me to go to my town military Amphur and request a exemption certificate as well. I will ask my uncles to go with me in case there is any issues like you have also mentioned.

Thanks.
