AlexCanada
Maybe some of the traps didn't work since the beach vendor ate the cheese in the trap. I'm confident all rats will be caught. Pattaya is a world class resort. Edited September 22, 2018 by AlexCanada

They got rid of them by bringing into the country a lot of cats. Now you will be hard pushed to see a rat anywhere over there The problem in Pattaya is the cats are afraid of the rats, I have seen it many times where the cats just look at the rats then move away from them.

Classic Ray
I used some of those traps to get rid of rats at one of our shops, baited with peanut butter and bacon, but the accuracy of construction was poor, the rats could often wander in and out at will, difficult to adjust for sensitivity. silver sea
Interesting article on an alternative to rat poison: “Eventually, out of a mix of curiosity and desperation, she fed it to both males and females. The result was dramatic. It turns out that the triptolide destroyed sperm – the males became sterile almost immediately after ingesting the formula. https://www.theguardian.com/science/2016/sep/20/man-v-rat-war-could-the-long-war-soon-be-over Edited September 22, 2018 by Rimmer Edited for fair use

SheungWan
With the amount of food consumed in the Beach area there is always going to be a source for birds and rats. The problem is that the local municipality does not seem to have had a programme for regular eradication/reduction of the rat population which has multiplied and spread to the pavements. Not good for tourism as they say so maybe something will now be done.
jippytum
There are hundreds of rats clearly visible early morning .27 is the tip of the problem .Will they transfer them to another location as they do with the homing pigeons they catch in Chaing Mai
natway09
27 is a waste of time. We must have 200 in our apartments rubbish & growing. Cake Monster
The chances are that the 27 rodents caught were the result of 27 vendors doing their bit to try and rid the beach of them. The other 78 non effective traps were the result of vendors who said " Who pay me to do this ? - no being payed, no do "
