Koh Tao alleged rape case: Big Joke admits to concerns as female officer set to go to England

INN reported on developments in the selection process of a female investigator who will join two others in interviewing the 20 year old woman in London who says she was raped on Koh Tao in June.

Deputy commissioner of the Tourist Police Maj Gen Surachate Hakpan has expressed concerns after evidence given by the victim herself about the exact site of the alleged assault seemed to have been contradicted by the mother in subsequent interviews to the media.

Maj-Gen Surachate - known as Big Joke in the media - said that the Thai police would be taking the word of the victim not her mother.

However he added: "If the victim has changed her story about the location by the time we speak to her that will be a problem as vital time and evidence could have been lost".

He assured the media that a fully qualified female investigator with experience of rape would soon be on her way to England with two other officers.

The selection process of such an individual is being handled by Region 8 police in conjunction with the Koh Tao police.

Some weeks ago the Maj-Gen said he would go himself but whether that will prove to be the case remains to be seen, notes Thaivisa.

Thaivisa understands that the alleged victim is Isabel Baxter known as Issy believed to be from South London.

Her ex boyfriend told Thaivisa last month from Dulwich that he believes she was raped while in Thailand.

Her mother Susan Baxter Nash has spoken to a well-known Thai journalist and several UK newspapers claiming her daughter was raped on Koh Tao.

Requests by Thaivisa for comments to all those involved have not yielded responses.

Several people still face defamation charges for spreading fake news in relation to the alleged incident.

Given that the cops have made it abundantly clear that they are not going to do anything about it, and whose sole focus from day one, before collecting any evidence was to deny it, one wonders why they are bothering. Having threatened the alleged victim also, I would not be at all surprised if she refused to even bother meeting with them, regardless of who they send.

DSG i think she has already confirmed to the UK authorities that she will meet them

Well it would have been fresher then than now.  It's a moot point though as there has been no investigation and likely will not be one.

personally i think it's good they are following it up

chance of a real investigation or prosecution after all this time and across international borders is pretty much impossible now i would have thought

it's hard enough prosecuting rapes even in the west when it's reported straight away

under these circumstances i'd say zero chance

but you never know, something might come up

Yes but CCTV would still be available.  And could question people who might have witnessed something; could pretty well determine who was in the area at the time.

CCTV is usually deleted or taped over after a week or two.

i think that was just his knee jerk reaction as he probably did believe she was lying at the time with the very limited info he had and no doubt some influence from you know who.

when he said it, i think he intended to go.

the uk requested females and he is not female

also, although unlikely he will go, after advice and thinking it through, no one still knows whether or not he is going.

go for what? hermes bag for the mrs and a harrods teddy bear for the SL chick maybe

Even in developed Countries there is an element of blaming the victim for rape.  Having read "Big Jokes" initial reaction, he seems to be following the same trend, if not saying she is a liar?  There is a way to go on this and it will be interesting to see what the conclusion is, if there is indeed one at the end.  If the Girl was raped, I feel so sorry for her and hope she can in time get over this horrible crime.

interesting no one really picked up on this . .

"He assured the media that a fully qualified female investigator with experience of rape would soon be on her way to England with two other officers"

experience of rape? what she was raped or has experience investigating rape? i doubt they have a specially trained officer in rape cases.

a couple of experienced female english speaking coppers and a representative from somewhere like paweena would be best IMO

Their escape clause in bold type.

Well if they had not dismissed her at the time she reported to the police, the crime scene would still be fresh.

I think it's too late now and they are really not interested in justice for the lady.

Oh yes the operation procedure working in harmony

no doubt she would be with a uk specialist team.

one thing i will say and i'm not defending BJ. but i'll be honest, before his prawit alliance i actually thought he was alright but the photos and everything were adding up before that which led me to thinking, oh no, another one on their books.

i'm not sure that he lied. i think he just went on what he had in front of him which was not much

he had the mums statement and shit from the sun who seem to have it in for thailand.

desperate reporting from that lot, any story, they'll distort it which is counter productive IMO

I think you are forgetting he had his orders from Prawit before he even opened his mouth, he lied!

re the other cases he keeps getting plastered over the media for is more about prawit than him I would imagine, nice bit of propaganda at work though

Not sure about charges for spreading fake news but what about defamation calling her a liar.

If there is semen found on the shirt she was wearing that night as earlier reported. After all she

is facing defamation charges under the computer crimes act for impugning the good name of Ko Tao.

And yet 'they' spend thousands to go check out the fake news in a foreign country.

once BIG JOKE had made his decision , you can guarantee there will be no other verdict or backtracking, remember the BIG BOSS congratulating the police in the TWO BOYS  case, (even before more evidence came to light) there was no going back from then on as it would entail LOSS OF FACE , and we cant have that can we, its going to be the same story here.
