An enraged Thai husband in Thailand's north east - furious that his wife had sold the buffaloes and not given him any of the proceeds - stabbed her to death then stuffed a 100 baht note in her lifeless mouth.

He hoped that this action would mitigate bad karma.

Nong Kungsri police and medics went to a house in Nong Suang sub-district of Kalasin on Friday where they found the body of Samniang Saiwan, 66, on a wooden platform.

She had been stabbed in the abdomen and under the armpit. They found 100 baht in her mouth.

The victim's husband Sawat Ratchomphoo, 72, was found at their son's house nearby wearing bloodstained clothing and clutching the murder weapon - a knife.

He said he was angry and drunk.

Relatives said that the couple did not live together as he was always beating her up. On this occasion the deceased was alone after one of her children went out.

Sawat confronted her about the sale of the family buffaloes. He wanted to know why she had banked all the money and not given him any and had ordered one of their children to take away his ATM card.

He admitted murdering his wife then putting the 100 baht in her mouth to avoid bad karma.

He then went to his son's as if nothing had happened, reported Daily News.

He has been charged with murder and detained.

You're probably absolutely correct ..I can't imagine anything like this happening outside of Thailand?..I mean.....it would be ridiculous to think that a Thai man could be capable of handling alcohol......

Where do some people drag this stuff up from, I have to ask myself

Hmm,...When I was travelling In the Philippines, every time i got hold of a English newspaper there were articles of drunken men having killed there best friend, wife, girlfriend,..etc...

Sins then, every time I see drunken Asians in a place? I move on to a other location.

Just saying !!!

From my life experiences there seems to be 2 types of drunks. The merry drunks that can be fun when out socialising with and the aggressive drunks that after a few want to fight everybody.

I used to have a friend in England who`s wife once she had a few drinks was literally anybodies. There were times when she would visit the local pub and not return home all night. Eventually the couple came to blows and my friend ended up throwing his wife out of their first floor bedroom window. She sustained a broken back and he ended up serving 2 years jail time.

My point is; regardless of race or nationality, there are those who can`t handle their drink and the aggressive drunks are the worse of the bunch. Also, after a period of time alcohol does cause brain damage and these people do lose their mental faculties, they literally become retarded and incapable of rational thinking.

From the OP article, it sounds like the old guy husband was a drunk, a wife beater, and probably pissed away whatever money he could lay his hands on.  So, not so surprising his wife put the money in a bank, didn't give him any of it, and asked one of their children to grab his ATM card.

Another in a long line of sad excuses for a human being that we get portrayed in the local news.
