Health insurance in Thailand for expats: Why get a second medical opinion?

You’ve fallen ill.

Or maybe you got injured.

You’ve seen one doctor but still feel uncertain about your diagnosis.

Uncertainty, especially when it comes to your health, can be stressful. You may start to wonder if you’ve developed a serious health condition; you may question if your current treatment is working. What if your doctor got the diagnosis wrong?

Questions about your health can haunt your mind. But you can end the uncertainty with a second medical opinion.

As part of our plans that offer health insurance in Thailand for expats, LUMA’s in-house doctors can provide guidance to you or your family on how to get a qualified second opinion from a leading doctor. But wait a second.

Who is LUMA Health Insurance?

LUMA is a health insurance provider headquartered in Thailand. Located in the Park Ventures Ecoplex building on Wireless road in downtown Bangkok, we offer western quality health insurance in Thailand for expats.

Why are second medical opinions important?

At LUMA Health Insurance, we realise it’s important to know when to get a second medical opinion —especially if you’re unsure of your diagnosis or of the treatment modalities first proposed to you. Here are three potential benefits of consulting another doctor:

  • A fresh perspective - a second doctor with specialist training in your particular condition can offer new insights into your condition and how to best treat it.
  • Prevent questionable treatment - sometimes your initial doctor may recommend at first surgery or a controversial treatment. A second medical opinion may provide an alternative option that may be worth considering.
  • Provide confidence - a second medical opinion can give you further confidence in your diagnosis and proposed treatment, clear up your worries, and help you sleep at night.
