Mr Kamhang (in patterned shirt) arrested on Friday (Oct 19) by Phuket Provincial Police

On Friday (Oct 19) at 6pm Lt Col Tammasan Bonrong of Phuket Provincial Police arrested Mr Kamhang Kunprom, 35, originally from Phattalung, under an arrest warrant from Phattalung Provincial Court for murder, owning an illegal gun and ammunition, and stolen goods.

Mr Kamhang was arrested coming out of his rented room on Chumporn Rd in Phuket Town after having been identified by the police as a suspect looking similar to a wanted person in the arrest warrant. On request the suspect was unable to show his ID card. The police then took him to Phuket Provincial Police Station for further investigation.

From the initial investigation the police confirmed that Mr Kamhang was the person in the arrest warrant, which he denied by informing the police that he was asleep at the time of the killing over 11 years ago.

Well, if he remembers being asleep 11 years ago, then he couldn't have done it.  Case closed.

Cop to young offspring: "Someday this investigation will be yours, my son"

"after having been identified by the police as a suspect looking similar to a wanted person in the arrest warrant" - the Thai's do hold their age well.  ????

When I read the headline the same thought crossed my mind - "Red Bull heir"

Not sure how they stand on that because Thailand definitely has a statute of limitations on many crimes like this.

The cops may be out of time unless I am wrong, which I may be.

I think you are correct, statute of limitations should have past.

Remember all the talk about Red Bull heir, all he had to do was stay out of Thailand for 10 years.

There is no statue of limitations on murder, Vorayuth has a statue of limitation of 10 year on reckless driving with death as result, not murder

Was it about two weeks ago when they announced yet again that photos of arrested individuals would not appear in the press?

That lasted about as long as the last such announcement!

I do remember for sure a case of a Thai educated guy that had shot a Thai policeman and disappeared and worked in London.

He came back around 1997-98. He became a friend of mine due at that time, to his fluent English and he was a manager in the condo block I was renting in Soi Suanplu.  Out of the blue, he was arrested and we later found out why, as described above. I moved on to stay in Pattaya and he came and visited me whilst he was down there with some friends. I was shocked to see him.

He definitely told me that the case was thrown out as it was over either 10 or 15 years time limit. I cannot recall the exact time limit he mentioned, as it was a long time ago now. I make no claim that it is true or false. I know I made no mistake in translation as in those days I spoke no Thai and all conversations took place in English.

As far as alibis go, that is worse than feeble.

Correct he's the man I am sure, I can't even remember if I was alive 11 years ago let alone if I was asleep, I think the flowery shirt gave him away.
