Do You Get Cyber-murderous Urges ?

Featured Replies

I suppose it is all part of the rich human pageant but you must

have noticed the posts on here in reaction to any one who is a

drug smuggler , girlfriend slayer or (top-of-anyleague) kiddy

rapist.

Now while not being against the premature demise of any of

these fine examples of humanity I have so far resisted the

urge to key up a hissing-and-spitting post in their regard.

I just came across one which I thought was fairly exceptional.

"I hope his knackers rot off while he is waiting to be tried and

the resulting infection cause him a long and painful death."

(No names , no pack drill , find it yourself)

Now I believe that the quotee is a lady and the object of her

wrath "died in police custody".

My question is this - why do people make posts like this?

Is it some form of tension release?

:o

As long as they don't actually do it , at least without humanely offing

you and removing your giblets first (and in that order).

The hang'em high brigade seem to be conspicuous by their absence

here. Think I might confirm my rep as a trouble maker by offering

bleeding all over the place big heart liberal <deleted> whenever the

opportunity offers itself.

PS Even though the very words "confit de canard" make me drool

I wouldn't do anything bad to you - honest !

Well a proven guilty I'm sure mob justice would prevail if allowed.

Brit you're a bit :o (as if me and ducky can talk).

Your real life lynch mob has to turn up in person to do

the deed. And mob mentality applies.

Individual posters on an anonymous forum can not

claim mass hysteria.

I am still curious as to their motivations.

I try to avoid such postings, but have been known to place one or two like this. For me it is a release. Everytime I turn on the news I see bad things happening that have no excuse. Crimes against children get me most of all. Well, I can't so anything about these people, that's for the police so from time to time posting such a things helps as it seems all I can do to put a stop to such crimes. Sad I know, but when upset I have nothing else to do.

A straight and understandable response TB.

Many moons ago in Dublin a colleague's brother was beaten to

death one night by young thugs whilst walking home from his

job as a barman. These (can't think of a word) thought they

were "queer bashing".

A twisted judge gave them all suspended sentences.

The fact that the the lad was just going home from his work

and wasn't homosexual anyway (and that's not a capital crime

is it?) seemed to be irrelevant.

Now I went to the funeral (you do in Ireland) and would have

cheerfully organised a thug-bashing expedition in the same

park but unfortunately "conspiracy to murder" probably would

have got me serious jail time , there being no homosexuals involved.

But to get back to my point (jeez where was I) these posts seem

to involve people already in the justice system and wishing them

a lifetime in hel_l if not longer just seems superfluous.

Granted doesn't make much sense to bring mob justice online, however I'm sure most people are reacting to circumstances like they would if it ever came to fruition in real life.

Hear you Brit.

Interesting point.

Is the "mob hysteria" anominity thing (you're just someone in

the third row yelling "fry the fugger") related to cyber-anominity ?

A lot of us know each other off line, so I'm not so certain of the anonymity factor. :o However your point is valid never the less, but I think more to get a reaction than the action itself. :D

Is that a definition of "troll" ?

Your a bit deep this fine fuzzy morn (Heineken) Simpson ...

However I tend to agree with you and have a possible solution ... the introduction of a cyberspliff ... one puff before posting ... offered exclusively on volatile and potentially explosive topics ... should naturally release that pent up tension and tone down any subsequent postings ... :D

Personally I don't think we should take it so seriously in the physical sense. What people write on this forum is, for the large part, opinions and no more than that. No different to the letters to newspapers except that this forum is less edited than the newspapers. As for the "give me a gun and I'll blow his fugging brains out" brigade I'm sure if you were to take them there, hand them a loaded gun and tell them "there's your man" they'd turn and walk away. Unless, that is, your daughter or son was the victim then the red haze would come down on all of us. But even then, in the cold light of day, I wonder how many of us could really do it. Something with the grace of our particular God we'll never know.

I was one of the "good riddance" brigade and still stand by that opinion. Of course we should not condone mob rule and extra judicial killings but when it happens to a piece of sh1t like this should we really care? I suppose, as so called civilised creatures, we should but as Trink would have put it "huMAN natURE".

I am neither with the 'hang 'em high brigade' or the 'they just need to be understood brigade.'

Great when they get together for some online justice.

Confused of Bedlam.
