Boonthavorn - Has anyone used them for a kitchen renovation?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I am buying a condo and want to renovate the kitchen. I have been to Boonthavorn on Sukhumvit Road in Pattaya, and the staff have been great designing what we want. Now we want to go ahead and their policy is I have to pay 100% in full before any delivery and subsequent installation.

Has anyone here used them?

Has anyone had any issues?

By the way, I can’t seem to log in anymore with my 11 year old username so I have made a new one.

I would want to keep a significant percentage back until I was satisfied with the result.

They installed my kitchen a few years back and they were the most professional part of the house build. No complaints with any of their service, albeit expensive.
Of course employees change and they use different contractors so each case is going to be different.......

I can think of plenty of products and services paid 100% in advance in Thailand. Mitsubishi elevator for your home will not be delivered or installed until it is paid in full in advance. They will not even assemble the elevator until you pay 50%.  Custom swimming pool tile colors, please pay in full in advance.  Kera makes certain swimming pool tiles only to order and it must be paid in full in advance with no refunds. Custom granite pieces must be paid in advance as they are cut to your individual dimensions. A custom built to size kitchen might require a large deposit in Buriram, if not 100%.   Expats can get divorced, stop a home building project, have health, family or marriage issues and depart on short notice. Building a home if you do not speak Thai in Thailand is a real test of a marriage in my personal experience. Terracotta roof tiles of selected designs must be paid 100% in advance before many roof tile manufacturers will start to make the roof tiles in Thailand. They do not want those tiles sitting around collecting dust on a canceled order. The family that run Boonthavorn are highly respected, and have been very reasonable when I bought special tiles and decorative stone from them.  What is the policy at Ikea on custom made kitchens?

^ but conversely you pay up front for that hob with matching hood and as often happens you hear nothing until the day thry arrive to fit, when the fitter says hood not in stock.

Then you find out it was never ordered, then they tell you it will be 12 wks direct from Italy and this i fo came after 6 phone calls and the runaround during which time you are so angry that you could have gone elsewhere.

They have your money so you have no leverage.

Its a risk that most are not prepared to put up with especially when there are alternative choices every which way you turn.

In years of contracting the only item generally paid upfront less the fitting charge are lifts, Otis, Schindler,Kone et al, are all made in Italy, everything else and i mean everything is usually on 60/90days credit!

Thanks Guys,

while i I do realize that most projects you would hold a small percentage until completion, this is their policy, take it or leave it. I appreciate input, but this is not a discussion about whether I should pay 100% or not, and whether it is correct or not.

my post was looking for those who had work done by them, and while I do appreciate the advice, so far I have one that has the experience and was satisfied.

thanks again everyone.

I had a granite counter top fitted here. 50% payment on order, 50% when finished to my satisfaction. And the same thing for a made to measure wooden cupboard. That was also the arrangement for all double-glazing quotes I have seen here.

So I would say that 50/50 is fairly common.

I have used them to build a custom Kitchen back in 2012, they are professional and the kitchen is well built. We are buying a new condo, this time we use them again to design our kitchen, we also got a good deal on the kitchen appliances while they celebrating their anniversary on 11th November. They are great, you have nothing to worry about.

Free design is always a interesting offer. Many contractors do this, but I assure you that they tend to overprice it so that they could get more profit out of the project. Similar thing can be said on designers, all it came back to how professional the companies are and their track record.

My neighbor has experience in doing kitchen renovations through online consultation, the result is amazing, I recommend you to take a look on this option as well.
