A teenage girl and her three-year-old cousin were killed when they were hit by a passenger train at a station in Nakhon Ratchasima's Huay Thalaeng district late on Monday night.

Tippawan Chomchuen, 17, was carrying her sleeping cousin Suparat Sura across the tracks in front of the station at 11pm without realising that a Bangkok-Ubon Ratchathani train was passing. Both victims were killed at the scene.

Police learned from their relatives that the two had been visiting a fair in front of the railway station with eight people from the same village.

The accident happened as Tippawan was taking her cousin back home.

To be hit by a moving train here is very very unlucky RIP????

No safety barriers I note - but this is to be expected on Thai railways. RIP youngsters.

This was at a railway station where barriers could have been erected for the safety of passengers

As she deliberately and intentionally walked across the track , a barrier or fence would just be something that needed to be either climbed over or walked around

News like these really saddends me, it’s such a shame that two young kids have to die that way, who’s fault is it ?! Definately the parents or someone else older ( with a little of brain/conscience )  by not accompany them to the fair, these poor kids probably weren’t aware of the danger that they were about to experience, they just wanted a little fun, sadly they didn’t manage to reach that stage in life, what a sad and avoidable way to die ☹️ Lives here really don’t matter much to anyone apparently..

He’s right. I was there not last month and I noted to my wife how everyone just crosses the track at the station through the broken fence because they are too lazy to walk 50 yards to the proper crossing .

They do in the UK.

And yet people in the UK still get killed by trains whilst crossing railway tracks.

....same tracks, same train.

Why didn't the teen hear the train? Ear buds perhaps? RIP, especially the 3 year old.. Geezer..

Impossible.  What was she doing? Chatting and carrying the baby same time. So sad but trust me that no one gets killed without an misstake
