giddyup
If they can't meet the conditions without the income letter, ie have 800K in the bank, there will be no other choice but to leave. Either that or go on overstay. 1 1
Popular Post Pattaya46
Every time (not so often) that there is a change in "Visa rules", there are always many members promising an "exodus" of thousands of expats, but it never happens... At worse, I have heard of a few guys leaving for Cambodia when TI became stricter on visarun, but seems that most of them came back in Thailand before the end of the first year. In the case of these embassies' decisions, it's way to early to move. People in a difficult situation must first know if and how TI rules may change next year. And I hope they all will find a way to stay... Edited November 26, 2018 by Pattaya46
Popular Post seasia
I think that amongst the majority of people who have left, hardly anyone posts their decision here. I noticed 1 very pleasant and polite poster who stated his decision to return to the UK started a topic on here, very well worded, got torn to pieces though by the usual flamers/trolls and requested his topic was closed. Credit to the moderator who did so, if not mistaken even the moderator seemed saddened by his decision as the topic would have been very good. Never seen that poster post here again. I personally know plenty who have left, they were not on here complaining though, just made their decisions and left. Including a very good friend of mine who left after 23 years of living here. Another after 6 years of living here. Many more. None for financial or visa reasons. None of those post on here. I have been here 10 years, many more visits before that, seen plenty left. I am still here but respect those I know who have chosen a different path in life. 19

Mostly they leave quietly, sometimes not even informing their Farang friends in Thailand. Leaving Thailand after many years is associated with "failure", one way or the other. During the last 2 years, I helped 9 countrymen to facilitate their return home (them having burned all bridges before). What we read here, concerning departures, is only the "tip of the iceberg". Most of them leaving "immovable assets" behind, that don't fit into a suitcase. But I am sure that for every "departure" there will be a new "arrival". Cheers.

Yes if someone posted a sensible and informative post that they left Thailand, you would have all the halfwits replying with stupid comments, dont let the door hit you on the way out and stuff like that. So i guess thats why they dont bother, unfortunately a lot of immature old men around nowadays. 8 2 1

Popular Post AjarnMartin
Why would anyone react to hearsay? When Thai Immigration clarify exactly what the new rules and processes are, then people can make their judgements on that. Until then, the TV comments are only that... comments!

As well, multiple reports of people with legitimate visas being turned away at the border. Shit is hitting the fan.

arithai12
I have read of thousands being caught on serious immigration violations, most being deported, in that case I'd say leaving Thailand is not quite a case of "testicular fortitude" unless they kick them in the netherparts first. Popular Post Maejoe
I am aware of several single expats that used to live in the Sansai/Mae Jo area, that have moved on this year. They have decided that Cambodia, Vietnam or the Philippines is an easier place to live. Probably not so much because of Visa issues, but more about Thailand is becoming an expensive place to live, especially for those on a government pensions. But of course they are not in Thailand any more, so very unlikely to pop up on Thai visa to add their little moan

Popular Post simoh1490
I haven't moved out but I have hedged my bets for the first time in 15 years by buying a small flat in the UK. The reasons for this are many and varied but not one has anything to do with letters of income, government, visa's or 800k in the bank....I'm very happy keeping my money here.

I like it, a colourful description of events without being vulgar. We aren't soothsayers, we don't know what will happen but the fact is at this very moment you don't have a problem, why make your life difficult worrying about the next hour, day, week, month ? what happens, happens, it's just the play of life, you are on the stage but at the same time you can be watching the play unfold, you aren't in control anyway.

I know of a few people that have the income, but not the 400,000/800,000 in the bank. They have always renewed their extensions legitimately, but will be paying under the table in future. All this will do is boost the immigration's tea money. 1

And actually the monthly income hasn’t gone anywhere the law hasn’t changed. Like we both said what new rules. And even if they were going to change that law I haven’t actually seen it yet in my magic crystal ball lol. If they did change that law I’d either have to move my savings over here or just simply leave for two days and get a new visa. But as of now the law is still the same. And yes you’re exactly right the income affidavits will not be an issue until mid to late next year. Nothing is changing at all not the monthly income requirements nothing. If they are going to change the law regarding monthly income my psychic still hasn’t been able to see it yet in the future lol ????. I swear I’m done reading rumors from now on stick to the facts guys seriously ????????.
