150+ politicos defect to new pro-Junta party

BANGKOK — More than 150 former MPs, senators, ministers and famous figures had joined pro-junta Palang Pracharat Party by the end of Monday.

 

Monday was the last day people could register for party membership if elections are to take place as schedule on Feb. 24.

The shallowness and lack of conviction in Thai politics is just shameful. None of them actually stand for anything other than securing their own social and financial status and will jump around abandoning anything they say or think if it means survival at a moment's notice. The writing is obviously on-the-wall and everyone knows the Junta will retain power whatever happens by some crooked means...????

Delays in pursuing indictments are big incentives too besides the personal gains. Boonsong will get a reduction in his 42 years with his son sacrifice to join the evil side.

Nothing evil about the side where members of the government, members of parliament, commit fraud for personal gain eh Eric? So long as they're elected they can do what they want eh?

You're right. If anyone is prone to depression, they should not follow Thai anything, much less Thai politics.

 

Thais are ridiculously inept at football, yet football qould be a better bet than politics in Thailand.

This number of defections does not just happen. Pressure, promises, and payments must have taken place. Then after the election their will be finger pointing and disappointment...oh...and another junta. Let the follies begin!
