Anyone think City jumped the gun on Grealish? Had they held out a couple of days they might well have got Messi on a free. Or were they aware of the situation and weren't bothered about getting him anyway?

After living in the Middle East for 15 years, I'd say they were blindsided. A-rabs, love bling. Messi all day long.

Firstly, that was 12 years ago. How much is 50 mil in today's money? Your lot have paid more than that for a defender, goalie and midfielder. Not even a striker

Secondly, we haven't paid 50 mil for a striker

It's only ever been the papers and this forum who thought Messi would be coming to City. We just let Aguero go for free, why would we want to pay stupid money for a past his prime Messi? His agent was probably touting the minute it leaked and we have shown no interest

As much as I love Messi I pretty much agree with this. But it does beg the question would City have been in for Messi if they had known he was going to be available. Messi is definitely past his peak but still a great player, and a player who still makes those around him better.

I would rather the stupid money be spent on Kane who is about six years younger than Messi. So far we have got big calf, big hair Grealish.:coffee1:

I reckon all the clubs/agents with money were informed the second Messi and his agent knew there couldn't be a deal at Barca

Why do they even bother with that fixture anymore.

Don't know mate. At first Pep thought it was an important fixture like in Spain but after he realised the Trophy doesn't mean diddly squat and yet Liverpool are prepared to take a man out and injury him for the whole season ????, he just uses it as a pre-season runabout

Yep...right shower of nasty b'stards we are!!!????

"It's nice to be important, but it's also important to be nice.

Liverpool know all about that, with the Reds set to complete a fifth straight season at the top of the Premier League Fair Play table, barring a rather spectacular loss of discipline in their final match of the season at home to Crystal Palace on Sunday.

The Reds have finished on top of the table in every one of Jurgen Klopp's full seasons in charge"

Don't know if you are aware but the Charity Shield isn't part of the Premier League "hug and kiss everyone" table ????

You have to dig back 12 years when he was pretty much just starting out, to find something that the details are pretty much outdated anyway, to then say he's full of ####. Think it's you who is full of it mate
