Police and military personnel in Ban Chang, Rayong, are stepping up the search for a group of grave robbers who took ten corpses of newborn or stillborn children from a cemetery.

It is believed that the corpses were to be used in supernatural rituals and may have been sold to foreigners.

Witnesses said that they heard incantations at the cemetery in the Cambodian language.

The cemetery is in Soi Tessaban 56 in Ban Chang on a ten rai plot.

A police team led by Ban Chang cops with military assistance is spreading its net.

The case is connected to stillborn and dead newborn infants that had previously been brought to Ban Chang hospital.

Who exactly 'believes' this? Unless by foreigners they mean Cambodians, rather than the usual Thai press definition of 'foreigners' - meaning ferangs.

If these were relatively new remains, it's more likely the dead babies were preserved in formaldehyde and sold as biological specimens. Such things have become increasing difficult to obtain in recent decades.
