THE JUNTA-BACKED government yesterday tossed a hot potato toward the Election Commission (EC), putting the onus on the agency to decide the date of the general election taking into account the preparations for the royal coronation ceremony, while suggesting a month’s delay from the tentatively scheduled February 24.

Fishermen yesterday move their boats up on to the road at Laem Talumphuk in Pak Phanang district, Nakhon Si Thammarat province, as they brace for tropical storm Pabuk.

 

30,000 evacuated in Nakhon Si Thammarat, tourists leave islands in droves as south braces for tropical storm today. Airport closes, boats anchored and schools shut as people prepare for gales of up to 95kph, heavy downpours, floods.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democrats wasted no time flexing their new power in the U.S. House of Representatives on Thursday as they manoeuvred to pass legislation backed by new Speaker Nancy Pelosi that would end a 13-day partial government shutdown while ignoring President Donald Trump's demand for $5 billion for a border wall.

Animal cruelty: "Soldier" orders staff to tie up and throw out annoying dogs

Daily News Online reported that the fan page Watchdog Thailand (WTD) said that a soldier at a camp in Lopburi had ordered people under his command to mistreat and dispose of two dogs.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. House of Representatives, where Democrats now hold a majority, approved legislation on Thursday to end a partial government shutdown that began nearly two weeks ago at several federal agencies and fund the Department of Homeland Security through Feb. 8.
