It’s a tragedy for sure, but as the CRV should have been slowing to turn right I don’t understand how it ended up in the klong ????

Maybe brake failure? I agree it looks a bit strange, I would think the speed must have been 50 km/h when the driver decided to change lane.

Plenty of time to step on the brakes.

I suppose on balance I look forward to having a minor scrape so that the car is off the road for a month being repaired.
When my wife and daughter both got car licences I then taught them how to drive, spent a lot of time with them, on road and off road (parking, reversing etc) even bought a few road cones to practice reversing.
Both of them now are good defensive drivers, wet or dry conditions. My wife has no problem driving alone to Utteradit quite often, 280km.

makes it hard, looks like she was speeding as well, the driver of the crv obviously never looked in his mirror to see if it was safe to pull over as well as didnt indicate, both these things are bad habits many thai drivers/riders do. If he had of looked in his mirror he would not have tried to change lanes, then again many drivers do so anyway, while she may not have been turning the crv didnt indicate or check to see if there were any cars in that lane before moving over so has to carry some of the responsibility. Unfortunately in Thailand hardly any drivers abide by road laws or signage on the roads, they think they can do whatever they like from any lane on the road as is seen time and time again, I cannot see thai driving improving at all till road laws are actually enforced by the police and that will never happen. More avoidable deaths due to total disregard  to driving requirements by both drivers

It is what it is. Thai police will just standby and watch the unenlightened masses sort it out by Darwinism . Unfortunately some undeserving people also got caught in the melee... but that is sadly the collateral damage of the system.

There was no indicator from the CRV (as is with so many Thai) so she have just assumed it waS going straight ahead untill it just pulled across to the right unless there is another camera showing the accident from behind i personally would say 50-50 responsibility .

I would personally say 99% her fault for being in the turn lane but heading straight on

I would fault the CRV driver 1% for not indicating which is common practice as you say

50/50 you got to be joking!

Vios Driver is Guilty.PERIOD.

- driving on the shoulder is illegal

- passing on the shoulder is total stupidity

- checking shoulder before making right or left turn it responsibility of the drive making the turn

Time for Thai police to enforce law and shoulder driving law

Well the extent of tinting on windows here cut's down night vision when driving a lot,to be honest i have thought of investing in night vision goggles.

I had a toyota Altis bought it secondhand. My first night drive was for about 200 kms ,all the vehicles on the road appeared to only have side lights. Next day had the film removed from the windscreen and replaced with a lighter film. Could then see perfectly and not shake at the thought of driving home in the dark

Just how will you investing night vision goggles help them see better at night?

So true and why is a tint over grade 20 allowed on the windscreen ? Early this morning & still dark I passed 2 cars that were driving slowly and when they parked up near to me I realised why . Could not see the driver through the windscreen and so their vision would be poor . I Had a similar experience myself and got the tint changed .

She said she'd meet with police sometime this week.. Obviously she has a very busy calendar schedule or doesn't see it being of too great importance even though two lives were lost..

Why wasn't she escorted to the police station after the accident and tested for alcohol and drugs in her system, as well as giving a full statement to the RTP??

Are you serios? If someone said you kill 2 people what you will do? Shut up the mouth and talk only with your lawyer!!! In my eyes she do NOTHING wrong. The other driver made it wrong.

regards Worgeordie

Possibly a small fine and 30,000 baht compensation to the family. Condolences from the police. Perhaps a pink envelope.

No crime recorded

IMO then she should have slowed, shoulder checked & let the CRV pass to be sure.

It looked like the barrier was just balanced on the side of the road, not really attached. Some glue would have helped a bit more! Same as the barrier in parking garages, A little tap, and the barrier and car take a dive. Of course there are no building inspections here, then puujai baan comes and checks it out.
