International Driving Permit (IDP) at Chonburi: How long to get it?

My Isaan GF needs to get an IDP. It's going to be a tight schedule for her. I've read past posts about getting these at the Department of Land Transport (DLT) in Chonburi, which we will be near before departing from Suvarnabhumi. Does the Chonburi DLT issue these on the spot, or do they mail them out? If mail, what's the typical time before the IDP arrives?

Get your GF to telephone them number on DLT website.

She will need a 5 year DL.

Does the country you are going to need a IPC.

These are the contact data for DLT head office in Bangkok (Thai, English).

https://www.dlt.go.th/th/contact-us/

https://www.dlt.go.th/en/contact-us/

Telephone (central) 0-2271-8888

Hopefully they can tell her which offices are capable to issue on the spot.

DLT Chonburi city (not Pattaya):

Driving License Department Tel: 038 - 275202

And be aware: for the IDP you need to supply two photos (different from Thai license).

If you already have a full licence and the photos it will be issued in a morning depending on the queues. Unfortunately when I was there (Chonburi) the queue numbers did not discriminate between licence applications and IDP applications so I had about 100 ahead of me. Once you eventually get to the inner sanctum up to an hour before you get the IDP. Take a good book!

Just an update: Mrs. Drucker got her IDP issued on the spot at the Land Transport office in Khon Kaen city (note that was the one in the city, not the bigger one 10 km north of town.) All told it took about an hour to get it, cost was 500 baht cash on the barrelhead.

She also inquired if there was any other office in the province where she could get this (as she lives about 2 hours away in Amphur Si Chomphu.) Answer was no, that one office in Khon Kaen city is it for the province.

I would of thought OP would of ask me on that not some pedantic police poster.

He had good advice so all good.

IPC is the " International Pension Centre " as opposed to "International Driving Permit" so it's close. ????

Do you know if this can be done at the Pattaya office?

Also, other than the photos what else is needed? Unfortunately I have been told I need for car rental back in the UK.
