buying a fixed townhouse

I have seen townhouses fixed in a row on a small gated block of land. Are these classed as condos (freehold), or are they classed as being on land similar to a house? I'm looking for a place I can buy around Minburi area BKK, which has some sort of lock up area on ground level. Cheers.
