Police are investigating the death of a transvestite whose body was found inside a temple in Beung Kan province.

Relatives of Keng Sri-sanga, 28, told police that a monk and temple boys might have been responsible for his death and tried to pass it off as a suicide.

“Keng liked a son of the monk. I was told the monk had tried to end the relationship all along,” one of the relatives said on condition of anonymity.

He said he rushed to the temple in So Phisai district to check on Keng after his mother found two cryptic posts on his Facebook wall.

At 8.26pm on January 24, Keng posted, “Sam Bon Forest Monastery is like hell. Khru Ba Saeng is like a demon. He hit me. He hates me. He bars me from doing anything”. Then at 8.34pm, another post went up reading, “Please collect my body at Sam Bon Forest Monastery.”

According to the relative, the monk in question admitted to hitting Keng after Keng allegedly hit his son. So far, the monk has denied fatally injuring Keng, saying he and the temple boys dragged Keng out of the temple and did not know what had happened later.

Police said there were no signs of injuries on Keng’s body except for the rope wound around his neck. The scene suggested Keng might have committed suicide.

“But we will investigate further,” So Phisai Police Station deputy inspector Pol Captain Sakchai Panthawong said.

Police have planned to gather evidence at the scene where Keng was allegedly beaten up. His body has been sent for an autopsy.

A friend of Keng said he had drunk with him on the night of January 24 and he was not suicidal. “As he left, he told me he would go feeding dogs at home,” the friend said.
