Suspects known in alleged rape of 12-year-old girl, police say

Police say they have identified the suspects after a 12-year-old girl was allegedly gang raped in an abandoned building in Bangkok's Bang Kapi district on Wednesday.

 

Pol Colonel Kritsana Pattanacharoen said on Thursday that police were gathering evidence against the suspects to get a court to issue arrest warrants. National police chief Pol General Chakthip Chaijinda had instructed officers to carefully and quickly gather evidence in the case, he said.

 

According to the victim's 40-year-old mother, the girl was taken away by a male acquaintance of the family. The man, in his 40s, and his friend said they would take the girl to buy snacks in the Ramkhamhaeng neighbourhood at 6pm on Wednesday. 

 

The girl's mother was unable to find the girl for hours and eventually found her walking in the neighbourhood at 11pm. 

 

The girl told her mother that the two men took her to an abandoned seven-storey building opposite Ramkhamhaeng Hospital where they allegedly raped her. 

 

After the mother and daughter filed a complaint at the Hua Mark Police Station, investigator inspected the alleged crime scene, in an abandoned building at the end of Soi Ramkhamhaeng 81/4 in Bangkok's Bang Kapi district, and found traces of semen on a mattress in the building. 

 

Some nearby residents confirmed that they saw two men and a girl on a motorcycle go into the abandoned building. 

 

The girl was sent to Police General Hospital for a medical examination before she would be interviewed by police. 

 

Police say they are now waiting for medical examination results and the girl's testimony to apply for arrest warrants for the two male suspects, said Hua Mark superintendent Pol Colonel Saksit Meesawat.

An absolute heinous crime, and one the girl will never, in her lifetime, get over.

Hard to see how you can rehabilitate animals like this, and, I would think, any trying to, would be a lost cause. So, he will possibly plead guilty, do only half any sentence, then he would be free to go and ruin another child's life.

Glad to know that the police are doing the paperwork and gathering the evidence BEFORE arresting them...

 

gives them time to plan their I’ll-advised get away....

 

seems like the criminals put a lot of thought into their crime....

 

what about a mother’s suspicion and intuition?

In Europe they would arrest them immediately there it’s possible to detaining  suspects for 3 days without all paperwork complete thus giving the police additional time to prepare the exact warrants while they are in a holding cell..Here culprits have time to disappear.

My thoughts exactly, and you just beat me to it. The police know at least one of the alleged perpetrators, so why not bring them in straight away for questioning. I guess as Scorecard says, find the easiest and quietest route.....after all, it is not like the young girl is Hi So....

But in europe they get only 2-5 years prison term and comes out after 1/2 or 2/3 of this time.

Here the penalty for child rape (under 13 y.) is 7 - 20 years in jail.

Yes, but few serve that term, as there are often early paroles for Royal leniency and other reasons. Also if they are well connected or can pay money, sentences will be cut dramatically.

Nop often they serve a longer sentence in Europe.. Here they are out quicker even in some cases  killers have been released within 3 years time.
