Many good Samaritans are now handing out N95 face masks in Chiang Mai in a bid to help locals brave it through the ongoing serious haze crisis.

“We didn’t know each other before. But we are ready to do good things for society together. Thank you Tide the Handsome for supplying 10,000 N95 face masks,” Thana Lucksanapirak announced on Facebook, as he tagged two other persons in his post on Monday.

Included were photos of them handing out N95 masks for free on Chiang Mai streets.

The level of fine dust particles in Chiang Mai’s air has consistently been above safe limits for the past few months, sometimes extremely so, but even worse is the fact that no end is yet in sight.

The high amount of PM2.5 particles – particulate matter smaller than 2.5 millimetres in diameter – has continued to linger, threatening people’s health.

Long exposure to PM2.5 particles can cause many health problems, and the World Health Organisation has described such particles as carcinogenic.

Unfortunately today I bought 25 N95 myself at 3M shop to stock up.

Had i seen this guy I would have saved another 500 baht ????????

Why don't good samaritans simply organize and put out the fires.  Then no masks are needed.  Really??  Why NOT?  We have water and people.

The PM should be shamed by this but he won't be, he'll fly in on Tuesday and take some photos with the good Samaritans to make it look like he's doing something and he cares. Much like when Toon Bodyslam did his run, instead of being shamed by the fact someone had to run 1000km+ to raise money for government hospitals he seemed to embrace it and then buy more subs.

Are you brave enough to enter farming / forest areas where this happens and spray water on their fires? Not such a good idea.

On the other hand the police and even more so the military should not be frightened to do so, and the military especially have the resources and equipment to do so, but they don't.

Why?

No big secret, it's been reported many times the authorities look the other way for the right size envelope.

Because those kind Thai farmers will shoot them maybe?

Will little p and his entourage be handed, and actually wear masks when they arrive?

Of course not, that would be admitting there was a problem.

I think us common people try to do what we can to improve the situation. Such as Tide the Handsome for supplying 10,000 N95 face masks. However, IMOH the government should put up or shut up regarding the finance required to rectify this shameful situation.

No need to stop the burning, we have free masks.
