What's the verdict gang?

Will Cotchin be suspended?

If it was round 20 I'd say yes.

Preliminary final, I don't think so.

Hard to make a case for him seeing as Shiels was concussed.

He should get a fine. This would mean that because of earlier 2 offences in the season he is out for a week.

I hope the MRP have some balls.

Did anyone else have a problem with telecast today from Fox Footy? In the last quarter the sound went out of sync and the from the 9.53 minutes to go my signal disappeared. I received a message to say that my internet connection was at fault. I then tuned into the ABC radio broadcast with no problem.

I used strikeout sports for the Fox telecast and had no problem.

I also have the BT sports on backup at lineballsod which is a quality picture.

So bases covered for the GF touchwood.

I don't think he will miss purely for the fact the AFL wont want a blowout in the GF.

Nothing to do with guilty or not.

If I was a lawyer scaring up some cash for another luxury holiday,,

I would argue for the concussion to be put aside as there is no proof of when it occurred.

The Tackle

Stevie J, Rory Laird, Stephen Motlop, Jason Castagna among Mark Robinson’s likes and dislikes

WHAT I LIKE

1. DEALING WITH PRESSURE

It’s all about pressure and dealing with it. Adelaide’s team pressure is often ignored because the offence and ball movement is a standout. The Crows are the No.1 pressure team in the competition with an average of 185 a game and Richmond is second with an average of 184 game. The league average is 180. Pressure causes turnovers and that was where the Crows were devastating. They scored 111 points from turnovers on Friday night, the equal most in a game this season.

2. WHY LAIRD IS A STAR

All-Australian defender Rory Laird was damaging with 32 disposals at 91 per cent efficiency, and the Cats seemingly couldn’t do anything about him. It will be a different story on Saturday. One of the Tigers smalls - Daniel Rioli, Dan Butler, Jason Castagna and sometimes Jack Graham - will need to apply a shut down job, curtailing the short ball in the defensive 50m which the Crows employ with terrific efficiency.

3. “GEORGE ’’ CASTAGNA
The unheralded Tigers forward has returned six, four, eight, three and 11 disposals in his past five matches and there was debate about whether he should hold his spot. The Tigers bank on him to do his role, which is to defend, and he rarely lets the team down. On Saturday he had 18 disposals, his second-best this season behind Round 1 (20 disposals) and his eight score involvements were the second most behind Dustin Martin’s 13.

4. PRESSURE, PRESSURE, PRESSURE

It was billed as ball movement v intense pressure and the Tigers failed in the first half with the Giants winning too much easy ball at stoppages and running the Tigers off their feet between the arcs. But good teams stick to the game plan. In the second half the Tigers’ pressure index blew out to 213, their best rating for a half of football this season. The equation is simple for the Tigers on Saturday, bring the heat or they will be beaten.

WHAT I DISLIKE

1. WHY GIVE UP ON MOTLOP?

Trade talk gets out of control every year and Steven Motlop’s name comes up every year. When he puts together two finals like he did, it would appear foolish for the Cats to tip him. Was excellent against Sydney and, behind Dangerfield and Selwood, was the man most likely to cause Adelaide pain. Things happened when he won the footy and he finished with a team-high nine score involvements and a game-high 615m. Work rate, which is often considered a problem, was a standout.

2. THE END OF STEVIE J

Been a magnificent performer - he played 293 games and kicked 516.367 - but couldn’t get it going in the prelim. Critics will jump all over his mistakes and turnovers, but he was solid enough without hitting the scoreboard. He left Geelong at the end of the 2015 and wanted to prove he still had good footy in him. He did. He kicked 64 goals in 40 matches at the Giants and will be a walk-up Hall of Famer in five years’ time. The footy world says thanks.

3. IF COTCHIN IS IN TROUBLE, WHY NOT SLOANE?

Leigh Matthews says Rory Sloane is under more MRP scrutiny than Trent Cotchin. “I think nothing should happen, but I think this is a little bit more debatable than the Cotchin one,’’ he said. Disagree, because while it was a stunning collision, the consequences are far different. Dangerfield should have got the free kick for high contact, whereas Cotchin went at the contest when Dylan Shiel had his head over the ball and Shiel sat out three quarters of a preliminary final with concussion.

4. THE TICKET FIASCO AT EVERY GF

The hunt has began for tickets and with 80,000 members at Richmond and a whole city of Adelaide fans to try to cater for, the wheeling and dealing has already began. Every year tickets are scarce, but this year might be the greatest scavenger hunt of all time, only because the Tigers Nation is up and about. Was told on Saturday night by an emotional Tigers fan that $2000 would be available if a single ticket could be found. Yep, $2000. Good luck everyone finding a ticket.

The AFL has been accused of forming policy on the run and short-changing Richmond fans over a decision to make the Tigers wear their clash strip in the grand final against Adelaide, according to Caroline Wilson.

The Tigers will be looking to win their first premiership since 1980 but will have to do it in their canary-yellow guernsey, with the Crows getting first dibs at the home strip after finishing higher than their opponents on the ladder in the regular season.

"Gillon McLachlan and the AFL are often accused of policy on the run but surely this one takes the biscuit," Footy Classified panellist Wilson said.

Caroline is wrong precedent set long ago, higher placing team after the home and away gets there home strip, one Kev Bartlet was wipping up a storm over over the Tigers having to wear the mainly yellow...claiming there was no clash of jumpers...old Kev...is old now....his eye sight is not what it use to be...

I don't think the players will give a rat's arse what jumper they play in.

The supporters shouldn't either.

Richmond have already had their luck with Cotchin getting off.

That was disgraceful IMO.

On the Channel 7 Sunday football panel back in the 70's, guests would always get a few giveaways. Sometimes it was the Ballantynes chockies, sometimes the Aquila shoes, sometimes the Linda blanket, but always the Hutton's ham.

Lou Richards would hand over the goodies and say “Don't argue. Hutton's hams are the best'”   This was a quote straight from the product's label, which also featured a bloke copping a stiff arm into his face..........and so........a common footy vernacular was born.

Swan probably gets frustrated with Oliver like i do.

If the AFL don't tighten the laws on what is deemed a handball we can see these kids in the future just playing throwball.

In his defence he was being held off the ball and apparently harassed all game.  Looked like one opposition player moved towards Barry until Baz  said f×÷k off big ears and then he turned and ran.

Still like big bad Baz, he was the last of the hard men and I remember when there were quite a few and they were an integral part of the game not like the snowflakes of today who now rely on a manacurist and hairstylists instead of trainers on the sidelines.

Good morning all,

I have created a file in my Dropbox Account and will send a link to you shortly.  The area to enter your Tips is highlighted in yellow and there is also provision for putting the winning number of points in as well.

Hopefully you all have Excel but if not you can open the file in an on line version under my license.  When entered tips just save and close check if you want to make sure the tips have been saved.  It should not be possible for the sheet to be open for editing by more than one person at a time, if it is open by someone else it should say so and ask if you want to open in read only mode, this will not allow you to save any changes.

Regards

Gary

Thanks for that Gazman1.

I would love for Richmond to win as I like their song and as a West Australian I naturally hate Croweaters,  Hate Adelaide’s  jumper colours,,,, just don’t like them.

BUT!   With Don Pyke (a Weagle) as the coach, I think they will have a plan and a counter plan for any move that the Tigers try to take.

I hope the Tigers win but my money is on the Crows,,, Dammm them!

Thanks Gazman

I'm not tech savvy and couldn't open dropbox file as it was an xlsx file.

It said I had to buy Office 365.

So with only one game to go, I won't bother.

Would love to see Adelaide win it, but I'm tipping Richmond by 23 points with Cotchin winning the Normy.

Adelaide will be to good(28 points) and i have a good feeling about Tom Lynch for the Norm.

Come on the Crows!

Sorry, I've got to put my hand up for the Tigers... ANYONE but the Crows.

WOW  didn't see that coming, congrats Tigers.

Thought Lambert was stiff to not win the Norm.

Really enjoyed this one.

Forget to say how much playing in front of 90,000 plus 3 weeks in a row helped the Tiges.
