As reports are tallied for the first full day (April 11) of the ‘Seven Days of Danger’ Songkran road and marine safety campaign, no deaths were reported but five people were injured on the island.

According to statistics issued by the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, Phuket the island saw 4 road accidents on Day One of the campaign, resulting in 5 injuries but no deaths.

Of the 5 injured, two were Chinese tourists and one was a Swedish tourist while the other 2 were Thai.

Just 4 accidents in one day? This is surely a record low for Phuket. The Songkran measures must be working!????

Wait for it... seen 6 already and I am in Tak right now. No one in white sheets at the scenes... but hospital counts are not in yet.

I think the songkran police tent at Kata viewpoint is not even active yet.

I think it was reported a lot fewer people celebrating this year.

Let's hope it stays that way

Don't worry Phuket, you have plenty of time to catch up with the rest of Thailand

The higher figure.

Outside the bubble 70-80 deaths per day is still about the average.
