For me it depends, if it stuff for me, i go alone unless she wants to tag along. But in general she does not. Shopping for groceries, sometimes her alone, sometimes me alone, sometimes together.

No hard and fast rules. There certainly never a a family tribe in tow.

I dont and never have. Taught my wife to drive and made her take the car alone. In fact these days I buy almost all the home groceries because its 35kms to the nearest Tesco and I go by m'bike and fill a back box rather than take the car. We never shop together.

Whatever makes them (people) happy, who is anyone to judge or assume anything about another's relationship.

My wife doesn't drive so if she needs to shop, I'm her chauffeur. Once we have arrived at the store, we regularly go our separate ways and even though we may only have one trolley, we still pay separately.

This phenomena is mainly due to draconian licensing laws that forbid bars to open at certain times when shops are permitted to trade.

I see couples out shopping on my rare excursions and note that it is the male that generally pays - can't help but think that they are not in a very trusting relationship?

My excuse is I never seam to get tired of saying what the hell is that!! used for for cooking or cleaning ????

Why? Are you not married....share everything.

It’s a day out. Bit of shopping, spot of lunch and a visit to a coffee shop. No family hanging on but I guess that’s just written to get some reactions.

I like sharing with my family. But not the extended family. The four of us we enjoy the shopping, playground, pizza, etc.

I do most of the shopping, I need to get out of the village once a week. When she comes along we get two carts and we meet up when we're done.

The real question is why do I encourage her to come into the hardware shops.  She just doesn't get the allure of tool browsing. Ruins my happy place.

I can totally relate...

My Thai partner dreads when I drag him into Global House!...

Just shop on line. Tesco for meat veges fruit etc , she loves browsing the website especially the hot deals and 2 for 1 section

1.  I do the grocery shopping and my wife goes with me because she likes my company and is at work all day 6 days a week so we don't have much time to be together.  2.  We go out to eat every weekend and shopping at the same time.  I don't like to go out to eat alone.  3.  I'm old and need a person to pick me up and take me to the hospital if I fall down and vouch for me financially.  5.  I like her opinion if I want to buy underwear.  6.  I'm a ladies man and lots of ladies at the mall.  Wife goes with to protect her investment.  7.  I like her input on large purchases since she buys millions of dollars of equipment at work daily she is a savvy shopper.  8.  It is durian season and she picks better ones than I do.  9.  I use her like a retriever when I want things in different parts of the store.  And a hundred more reasons - efficiency mainly.

Because Mrs Akirasan has a habit of buying things that we don't need.

Reason 1: someone has to carry the goods

Reason 3: this country has fixed locations for 'mengarten'

love the last one 555

wife often does it by herself but if I am home and she asks me I go as I enjoy doing it, both groceries and checking out shops. I enjoy cooking so like to select certain groceries for me to use, same with her, together we cater for ourselves. With general shops I like to see what they have, I like to buy my own clothes etc and also items I can use around the house. To me men that dont go are just lazy and cant be bothered to do it, as someone said earlier, different people like to do different things unless of course they are embarrassed/ashamed of being seen with the other halves

If the highlight of your week is a trip to the supermarket do you not think that something has seriously gone wrong with your life? Genuine question.

Where does he say it’s the highlight of his week?

To be honest having a day out shopping, eating and genuinely chilling is one of my highlights. Why would my life have gone seriously wrong to enjoy that.

Enlighten us. What’s your highlights?
