Phuket water storage to be upgraded as emergency supplies continue

PHUKET:-- Phuket Governor Phakaphong Tavipatana presided over a meeting yesterday (May 2) at the Phuket Provincial Irrigation Office to discuss plans to improve the water storage situation in Phuket in order to prevent future water shortages in the event of a drought.
 

Gov Phakaphong said at the meeting, “As ordered by the Permanent Secretary for Interior, we will explore the various water sources on the island, both public and private, and will work on making them available for public consumption as well as carrying out repairs on existing sources that have deteriorated.”

 

“We aim to improve the storage of water during the wet season,” he said.

We'll see.......

They should be in Bang Wad and Bang Neow hauling out tons of soil whilst they can at the moment- he sand will be worth a fortune and can fund the works. Even worth allowing contractors just to haul it away and sell it. Too much thinking involved in that though.

Has someone above him passed the buck to him as he did to his district chiefs?

Would it be possible to drive heavy machinery and trucks over the lake bed without a lot getting stuck ?

 

Maybe call in the army to lay temporary tracks to allow this to happen.

A comment that says everything about the lack of maintenance that is prevalent in Thailand. They generally don't think about such issues until something goes wrong.

We all know there is zero forward planning or thinking in Thailand. It's all the usual 'never mind' and 'all be ok'
